Things to do in Malvern
Worcestershire's Victorian spa town, Malvern clusters around the Priory church, and from its heights you can see the oldest part of town. It sprung up thanks to healing waters, but is more likely to charm you today as the base where you rest and relax in between hill walks.
Fancy getting pampered? You can experience life at a leisurely pace and test out the water for yourself at the Malvern Spa with its indoor pool, hydroptherapy beds and more. After that, plonk down in one of the town's enticing cafes, restaurants or pubs. Why not try a steaming dish with lashings of Worcestershire sauce (first made not far away in Worcester), all in front of views of Worcestershire Beacon.
See a show at the Malvern Theatres Complex and then have a toddle around the beautiful Great Malvern Priory and its cracking views. If you want to get a feel for Victorian times in these parts, you only need to look at Great Malvern Station and there are many spots in town that still feature historic gas lamps. Charming and petite, Little Malvern Priory is also close to the town.
The Malvern Museum will get you caught up in the natural and human history of the area - whether you're popping on a costume, fiddling with fancy touchscreen exhibits or just gawping at its collection. The museum is situated within the Priory Gatehouse, a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade II listed building with even more to see.
Get all revved up for a trip to the Morgan Motor Company which offers guided tours of the factory and a chance to see sports cars being made by hand.
But why think of driving when this is classic walking country? Treat yourself to the stunning Malvern Hills which are just waiting to be explored. The Teme Valley Trail is very popular as is a moderate slog between Wyche and Wynds Point which will take you past the ridge of Berington's Quarry.
Flex your thighs for a walk up to the Worcestershire Beacon which offers superb views from the highest point in the entire Malvern Hills. And for sheer history, you'll want to make it to the top of Herefordshire Beacon (also known as the British Camp) with its Iron Age past and splendid views.
Finally worked off your itchy feet? Take a visit to the Malvern Hills GeoCentre where you'll dig deep (literally!) into the area and refuel in its tasty café, H2O.
Other interesting places to explore nearby include the cities of Worcester and Hereford which are exciting destinations for day trips from Malvern.
