Things to do in Cleethorpes

A day at Cleethorpes beach is a day well spent with everything you can imagine in this traditional seaside town. With four-and-a-half miles of golden sands, visitors are spoilt for choice in this popular beach resort. The beach also remains home to a favourite traditional seaside pursuit, donkey rides along the sand.

Come onto dry land and try for a hole-in-one at Cleethorpes crazy golf course. Bring along your penny jar and find your winning streak in one of the many arcades or sit back, relax and enjoy the costal views while taking a ride on the Lollipop Express land train.

Cleethorpes is home to the Pleasure Island Theme Park which will give the whole family hours of fun. There are on-site food courts, entertainment acts throughout the day, and many thrilling rides to enjoy.

Why not hire a bicycle from the Cycle Hub at Grimsby Town Railway Station and visit some favourite haunts in and around Cleethorpes or explore the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds, a wonderful area of countryside with some of the most beautiful, unspoilt scenery in the East Midlands. There are rolling hills and hidden valleys, gentle streams and nestling villages. The Lincolnshire Wolds is the highest land in eastern England between Kent and Yorkshire offering fine views to the Pennines in the west, and the coast to the east. 

See the sights like never before on the Hunt Fun Cleethorpes trail. It’s a code cracking, clue busting way to work as a team, so bring the whole family.

The Cleethorpes Boating Lake can be found at the southern end of Cleethorpes Local Nature Reserve. There are actually two main lakes with a connecting channel and fishing permits are available. The lakes are surrounded by amenity grasslands, ideal for picnics and traditional family games.

Need to avoid the weather? The Magical Castle is an enormous indoor play structure themed beautifully around a fairy-tale castle with all the usual modern soft play features only with a cool medieval twist. Sliding, climbing, tunnelling and classics like the ball pool.

Keen to explore the history of the town? Then head to the Time Trap Museum which is situated in former police cells and tells the story of how the town became one of the largest fishing ports in the world.

From there head to the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre and discover the history of fishing in the area and why it is considered one of the hardest jobs in the world.

Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway, the East of England's last surviving steam light railway, a two-mile-long trip from Cleethorpes Kingsway to Humberston Station with a half way station called Lakeside Station. Here you’ll find a museum, cafe The Signal Box Inn, the smallest pub on the planet.

Travelling out of town you can visit the Jungle Zoo, home to owls, goats, monkeys, lemurs and lorikeets to name a few, this interactive zoo brings guests as close to the animals as possible through daily keeper talks, feeding sessions and demonstrations.
