Things to do in Maidstone
Kent's county town, Maidstone is conveniently located for access to most of the area's attractions and is a great base for your camping holiday.
Leeds Castle, perhaps the prettiest in England, is just five miles away and is a must-see. In town, Mote Park dates back to medieval times. Covering 450 acres, it's great for walking, cycling (including a BMX track) and watersports on the 30 acre lake. Kids will love the pedalos and play areas.
They'll also enjoy a day at Kent Life farm attraction, with plenty of animals to pet.
For something a bit different, try a visit to Teapot Island - Guinness world record holder for most number of teapots (almost 7,000!). There are good walks alongside the River Medway in both directions from here too.
Folkestone, Dover, Canterbury and the Isle of Sheppey are all within easy reach - as are both the Kent Downs and High Weald Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
