Things to do in Herne Bay
Herne Bay is typical of Kent's traditional seaside resorts, from the big sand/shingle beach and colourful beach huts to the grand Victorian architecture and fish 'n' chip shops, it's everything you'd expect.
The stretch of coast between Whitstable and Margate has a number of family friendly beaches and you'll find plenty of candy floss and ice cream on offer. The two miles of seafront at Herne Bay Central Beach are perfect for pulling up a deck chair, while Reculver Beach is more of a peaceful hideaway.
There are also walking routes aplenty, with the Oyster Bay Trail and a stroll out on Neptune's arm both worth trying.
The kids will also love Wildwood, an animal park set in 40 acres with a variety of wildlife from snakes to bears, boars and wild cats.
For something a bit different, visit the charming open air Theatre in the Park at Strode Park. Historic Canterbury isn't far away either.
