Things to do in Milton Keynes

Located at the heart of Milton Keynes you’ll find Campbell Park which hosts many of Milton Keynes’ major festivals and events. Its imaginative mix of formal gardens, water features, woodland and open pasture mean it’s an ideal spot to enjoy the changing seasons.

Looking for fun and history combined, Milton Keynes Museum is a truly interactive museum where history comes to life with fascinating stories, brilliant recreations and hands on displays! Browse in the street of shops, connect a phone call in the Connected Earth gallery, watch sparks fly in the working forge, join the class in a Victorian schoolroom and try writing on a slate, make music in the parlour and toast in the farmhouse kitchen, experience an air raid in the Anderson shelter.

Want fun entertainment that's also educational, The National Museum of Computing is located on the secret wartime codebreaking campus of Bletchley Park. Here you can see the world's first modern computer in action along with the world's oldest working digital computer. You can even try your hand at coding on BBC computers from the 1980s. Great for the non-technically minded, and fantastic for computer heads.

Families can get stuck into the fun at Gulliver’s Land, with over 70 rides, attractions and shows to enjoy. Take a ride on the Runaway Train, look for wild animals on the Jungle River Ride or jump on the Toy Town Express or the Drop Tower.

Or visit Gulliver’s Dinosaur and Farm Park, which is home to more than 30 life-like animatronic dinosaurs. Explore this lost world on foot, listening out for the roar of the infamous T-Rex in the distance before taking a Jurassic River Ride to discover more of your favourite fearsome fossils. visit the Reptile and Bug Centre before stopping by the farmyard to visit animals of a much cuddlier nature, such as bunny rabbits and guinea pigs. Take a tractor ride, spot birds in the aviary and get your green fingers on as you learn to grow plants in the potting shed.

You’re guaranteed an adventure at Xscape. Learn to ski or snowboard at Snozone, the indoor snow slope, take a plunge and skydive at iFly Indoor Skydiving Centre, have a ball with 18 high-quality bowling lanes at Hollywood Bowl or experience a film with a difference at Cineworld, with a Superscreen and 4DX cinema.

Tempted to give climbing a go? Action seekers should visit The Big Rock Climbing Centre. Big Rock Hub offers climbing for all abilities, with courses for both adults and young climbers and starter sessions for anyone new to the sport. A great location to get involved in indoor climbing.

In addition to indoor action, there is lots of outdoor action to get involved in too, navigate the fantastic high rope adventure course at Aerial Extreme or try exciting activities such as archery, 4x4 off-road driving and axe throwing at Experience the Country.

If you prefer green spaces head Willen Lake and Park, their list of activities is impressive and includes kayaking, power boating, turbo paddlers, stand-up paddle boarding, windsurfing, wakeboarding, and a state-of-the-art ‘Splash Park’.

Next up is Thrift Farm, a 52 acre farm with a good selection of farm animals - cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, pony, donkeys, chickens, ducks, geese, rhea and turkeys. They have a hatchery with various small animals - chicks, ducklings and guinea pigs and rabbits. There is also an aviary with budgies and cockatiels. On the Animal Park is also a play and picnic area.

If you’re a fan of crazy golf, you can’t go past Mr Mulligan's Lost World Golf where UV lights, sea creatures and strange beasts are all thrown together for seriously crazy golf. Some of the enticing attractions to visit nearby include Emberton Country Park, Dunstable Downs, as well as the excellent Woburn Safari Park that will please animal lovers of all ages.

In addition, the towns of Bedford, Northampton, Luton and Aylesbury are also well worth visiting on a day trip from Milton Keynes.
