I will start this review with the negative things about T and J campsite. Despite being under a mile from Bedgebury Pinetum, if you want to go biking there it can be dangerous as you have no choice but to go on a busy A road. The bathrooms are okay, while having only used the men's, the 4 showers had lots of spiders and ran on a push system where you have to push a button for water every 10 seconds. Cleaning the campsite could be better, next to where we set up there was rubbish from previous campers. Now all of the good things. The pricing was extremely reasonable at 60 quid for 4 adults to camp on a non electrical pitch. The onsite shop was extremely well priced, with Asda Custard Creams for as cheap as 70p. When we bought firewood on one of the nights, the manager drove it to where we had set up camp since we were all on bikes. The mowing around the site is maintained very well by a very cool blue tractor. If you have a car, then it's very convenient to get to Bedgebury Pinetum. The staff are very relaxed and friendly, I felt very welcome to be onsite. You're allowed to have campfires which is epic. Lots of space and not that busy so you can have a kickabout or go in the park onsite and play basketball! Overall - A road next to the site can be annoying but if you have a car and set up far away enough, it's fine to be honest. Very friendly staff, very well priced and well maintained, besides the spiders in the men's showers.
Excellent base to explore local area

The campsite is absolutely perfect as a base to explore the local area. The electric pitches are well spaced out, with adequate shade and open space to play. The children's play area is well kept, and has a variety of equipment. The washing up area is easily accessible and the washing up liquid dispenser is a generous touch. The showers are small but entirely usable (tricky if you've got a young child with you though) and the temperature seemed to fluctuate when we showered in the evening. The cleaners closed the block when cleaning but were very efficient in getting it back open. The campsite is on the A21, there is some road noise but this didn't impact us at all.

Nice location, electric pitches are a really good size, with shade from trees which was really welcome. Short power-cut on the first night for about 5-6 hours. Nice sized play park with lots of stuff. Lovely clean shower and toilet block, open 24/7 which was very handy. Overall very nice campsite, we'd certainly go back.

We've been quite a few times over the years. Never had any issues other than the occasional night where people do not follow the 'no noise after 10pm' by playing music very late. But overall, it's our go-to for a nice, simple camp. :)
Site's response
Thank you for a great review. We apologise for the late night music, please do come and tell us next time if we haven't picked up on it!

I've just come back from staying at the campsite. The pitch sizes are really good, park area also really good toilet facilities are good the showers are a bit temperamental. The only bad point with the park is the constant noise from the road it's 24/7, so we all had broken nights sleep. I know you can't change the location of the site bring ear plugs. The staff are so so helpful and would open the shop if needed.

A little Oasis. Yes, it's by a road but really, we didn't notice that much. Lovely place to be. Not many places like it left. Hats off to the owners who keep it the way it should be. Must be hard work for them. Met by happy helpful people and left us alone to enjoy. Will be going back.

Came for 2 nights. Was happy that check in was before 8pm as we were arriving late. Glad we could have a BBQ and campfire. Staff were friendly. Walking distance to Bewl Water nature walk. There is road noise as its on a main road but we knew that and have no issues with it.

We have enjoyed our stay. Site was nice and we loved the fact that we could have an open campfire - kids loved doing their marshmallows. Also, the playground is great. The only thing I would say they could improve is the size of the shower cubicles. I'm not the tallest person but had to slouch.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed having a campfire. We are always looking for ways to improve so will keep the showers in mind. Hope to see you again soon.

We went to visit Bewl Water for a day to walk around. We stayed here as it was very close to the lake, only a 10 min drive! Beautiful location with lots of spaces and playgrounds for children. Only downside is the road next to it was very noisy all day. It's only at night when you can hear less cars driving past.
Site's response
Thank you for such a great review! The road can be noisy, but it does allow easy access to local attractions.

Near Sissinghurst, a 15 minute drive. Scotney Castle is 10 minutes away and the lake, Pinetum and coastal sites are an hour or so. Go to Wadhurst or Tunbridge if you want shops and cafes and there are many pubs around too. Beautiful woods and walks in Sussex countryside, although the roads are very busy, especially the Hastings road running right by it. The whole site is well run, thoughtfully laid out and has what is needed. Clear instructions and good reception. Originally I booked the campsite, then upgraded to a room in the motel and ended up with a good chalet for a week, due to my needs, so kind too! I saw play facilities for children and good spacing on the campsite. The chalet had it's own parking and was comfortable and warm, with easy cooking facilities. It was very clean and well thought out. Could visit friends locally and many beautiful sites (As well as Sissinghurst and Scotney Castle, it is near Beachy Head and so also quite near the sea and seaside towns). I have looked at the campsite for another time! It's close to lovely places and is clean, well organised and well run. It is adaptable to need too!

I stayed here for 4 nights in the second week in September. The site was tidy and very nice. I had electric hook up and was allocated a pitch. You can pitch anywhere if you're not in need of electric and the site has some lovely wooded areas that looked great. Very good location for visiting Bewl Water, Bayham Abbey and Scotney Castle. The A21 runs next to the site and is a very busy road and can be noisy, but this did not bother me. The toilets and showers were very clean and the staff at reception were very helpful and nice. All in all, I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay again.

Non-electric pitch camping

Overall, the campsite was clean and tidy, with reasonable facilities. The main area for the non-electric pitches is quite near a main A road, so there can be quite a bit of road noise, even during the early hours of the morning. The shower cubicles are also quite small, so it can be difficult to properly clean yourself. Apart from these small inconveniences, the campsite is good, with a large area to pitch tents in. Being able to have an open fire/BBQ is a big bonus and really helps to round off the camping experience. Check-in was quick and easy, we were in and out within a few minutes. There is also a few items for sale in the reception area, incase you are missing a few of the essentials.

Thanks for a great review! We will keep in mind what you said about the showers for the next time we refurbish the shower/toilet block.

Great place and was very surprised they allow for ground open fires. I had my box grill with me, so I used it for cooking and as a fire pit. Lovely meadow with trees and open spaces, a playground for the kids, good facilities, hot water. If it weren't for the road noise this would have gotten a higher rating from me. I loved the fact that there were no strict rules, just common sense.
Site's response
Thanks for a great review! We find campers love the option to go 'back to basics' and cook on an open fire. We hope to welcome you back again soon.
Reflects owners interest in keeping it clean and looked after

It's a nice site, clean and looked after by their owners. Bins are collected and toilets are cleaned daily. Can you leave all the cleaning to the owners? No, you shouldn't. The two faults I saw were because people can be careless. Should people expect someone else to clean after themselves, just because they paid to use the field? Should people clean their small leftovers from the sinks provided after doing their washing up? Yes, they should. It doesn't matter that the sinks are cleaned daily, if the first person that comes to use them after they have been cleaned, leaves them dirty. We all need to be aware that we need help to keep the all campsites clean for everyone. Would I recommend it? Yes!

Thanks for a great review! We pride ourselves on our cleanliness, so we are glad you appreciated it. Hope to see you again.

Excellent stay here. Showers and toilets clean. Lovely friendly people. Would recommend to others and would come back. Only thing to suggest would be that more could be sold in the shop, as nowhere near if you run out of anything.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. We hope to welcome you again soon! We have stocked more in the shop area of reception before but find that we sell very little as we are so close to many amenities. We will review this in readiness for the next summer season.

A good campsite. The only drawback was the traffic noise from main road outside. Otherwise, very good.
Site's response
Thanks for a great review! The road can be a little noisy, but we do try to make people aware of that in advance.
