Whether you're exploring the Dales or the Lakes, Little Acre Camping is ideal - only a 15 minute drive from both. Relax in the tent here and take the pooch for a stroll by the peaceful Lancaster Canal (just adjacent to site) or hop on a convenient bus to Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale (both just 7 miles away). Just across the road, about 100 metres away is the popular dog friendly Crooklands Hotel, with a bar and very good food served all day.

This is our second stay here and it's a lovely place to go and pitch your tent for a few nights. The field itself is kept very clean and tidy, with lots of room for tents and there is another area for campervans and caravans. The shower, washing and toilet facilities are the best we've ever seen and used whilst camping. They are kept very clean, well maintained and updated to modern standards. The owners of the campsite greeted us on arrival and were very helpful and friendly, and could easily locate them throughout our stay, should we have needed them (which we didn't, as everything was great). The location of the campsite is excellent, it is a 5 minute walk away from an excellent pub with generous food portions and ales. It is a 5 minute drive away from the M6 and A590 so excellent links, and you can easily drive to Kendal, Milnthorpe and other areas in short time. The location is the south part of the Lakes, so it is very easy to head down the A590 and access the Lake District from there. Overall, it is an excellent place to spend your time. Great owners, well looked after site, and a convenient location for pubs and a few small towns with good restaurants and pubs.

Gem of a campsite. Great location - not far from Windermere or Sedbergh. Site does not overcrowd tents into the camping field. We had older children with us - both aged 12. However there were younger children on-site with the motorhomes/caravans. Not sure if the over 12 age limit is strictly for tents only. Fantastic facilities - best we have been to. Clean toilet and shower block. Washing area had three sinks with a washing and tumble drier available to use. Crooklands pub across the road. Lovely canal walk a stone throw away from the campsite. Would recommend this site to family and friends ⭐️
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and enjoying your time at Little Acre Louise. For the campsite, the youngest age for campers is 12 yo and this has really helped make the campsite much calmer and quieter. Also, we only take single tent bookings, so we don't get small groups around firepits keeping everyone else awake at night! Thank you for recommending us on campsites.co.uk, Paul.

This is our first time camping as a family of 4 (2 adults and older 2 children). I was very apprehensive about camping - especially as the first night was solo with two girls. I absolutely needn't have worried. The owner reassured us upon arrival and I have never seen someone work so hard to keep things tip top. The facilities were a camping luxury - pristine and new modern powerful rain showers. Clean, and even had underfloor heating. Showers are 20p for 4 minutes, but we were about to get some change if needed. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner provided if need. The site was lovely and peaceful, and we slept brilliantly. Located ideally 2 minutes walk from a lovely pub and 1 minute away from a stunning big canal walk. We were fortunate enough to be there when 4 cygnets hatched ❤️ On our stay, we visited Ingleton (20 mins away) to the outdoor pool, Devil's Bridge for a paddle in the river, Lancaster (to the Butterfly House and then some retail therapy) and then into Kendal. Little Acres was only 10 mins away from an Asda where we got our supplies. Water and electricity hook up were a must for us (maybe one day we'll get a little braver!). Car parking next to the car made it handy and the sun made an appearance. 4 nights fabulous trip had by all. We'll be back (if you'll have us!). Kirsty and family.

Hi Kirsty. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review of your recent stay at Little Acre - you certainly packed a lot in and I'm glad that you all enjoyed yourselves & yes, you'd be very welcome to return. Paul p.s "our" swans hatched another couple of cygnets, to take the total up to 6.

I cannot begin to express how much we loved staying here. Paul, the owner, could not have been lovelier or more hospitable, The facilities were like nothing I've ever seen before and were better than some hotels I've stayed in, and the pitches were clearly very well cared for and looked after. It was a great location for all of the key places in the Lakes and the hotel/restaurant next door was also fantastic when we ate there one night. Cannot recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back ASAP!
Site's response
Thank you Madeline - we try and keep Little Acre looking as nice as we can and I'm glad that you've enjoyed your stay with us. Here's to your next stay. Paul.

Lovely little campsite. Very clean amenities.
Site's response
Hello John, thank you for staying with us over the bank holiday weekend and rating us so highly. It was quite a task keeping on top of everything whilst we were full and I was working like a swan to do so (calm and serene above the surface and paddling like mad where you couldn't see!) - Paul.

Campsite was very clean and tidy when we arrived. The campsite was quite empty which was great for us however, having two showers was not really enough for when the site got busy on the bank holiday weekend. Although, they were having work done on another toilet/ shower block so hopefully in the future there will be more to accommodate the amount of guests. The building work being done on the house did take away from the peace and quiet of the lovely location a little bit. But overall, a great stay, campsite staff very friendly and helpful.
Site's response
Hi Terry, thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. About 48 hours after you left we were able to bring additional shower/loo facilities back on line, which helped (sadly not in time for you !) and within the next fortnight, we hope to have even more shower/loo facilities coming online. Once completed, we'll have totally refurbished and modernised the original shower/loo block and then all the water onsite will be heated by solar power. We'd love to have you return to look at the changes. Paul & Sarah.

Thank you for staying with us Anthony and I'm glad that it worked so well for you. For 2024, we only take single tent bookings and the youngest age for campers is now 12 years old - and both things have helped make the campsite a lot quieter. Paul

Lovely site with a very clean/new toilet block. Owner was very welcoming and friendly, would recommend. Hotel bar great and a short walk away, canal walk very close also. Hard to believe just off M6 - 5*, thank you.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Stephen. You'll have seen Sarah & I going around the site several times a day, making sure that everything is clean and functioning properly - before you arrived, I'd just mown the tent field and it's a constant job getting the grass cuttings out of the toilet & shower block. Enjoy your travels. Paul.

What a lovely site Little Acre is. As told, the owners were lovely. The bathroom is modern and always clean. Very well ran site. The electric was powerful enough, but not as much as some sites we have been on and us having 16amps, but 10 was enough. Water was close by so didn't have to walk forever as it was just behind the pitch. There are facilities to wash up and even a washing machine. This site is the perfect place to come and have a relax, just sit and watch the world go by, or go for a walk down the canal. There are towns close by and a pub down the road - what more can you want? Only downside is the field isn't flat, but you can't do much about that! Thank you very much for a lovely stay - we will be back.

Really lovely little site. Brand new wash rooms are very luxurious. No fuss, no hassle, no noisy facilities, just peace and quiet in a fabulous part of the country. Bring a ground sheet as the new grass is soft. I've rebooked already.
Site's response
Hi Bob, thank you for reviewing us and for your rebooking. You're not joking about the grass being soft! Several months of soggy weather has made it so! In a usual season, we don't get campers in March, so it's something that's never affected anyone and now that we're into the (hopefully) better weather of April, the grass in the tent field will really start to flourish. See you again soon. Paul.

On the way back from a 3 night very rainy stay at Little Acre. It's a small family run site, the owner is really friendly and helpful. Facilities are amazing, I've been to quite a few sites and good facilities are a must for me but this is hotel standard! Only one block was open while we were there as it was quiet, I believe the newest refurbished block. Toilets are their own 'room ' with toilet, sink and dryer, one being an accessible one. Showers again are their own wet room with waterfall shower, normal shower, sink, heated mirror and bench. Again one of the showers was accessible with a shower seat. They are huge, so clothes and towels stay dry. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel included. Coin operated with 20p for 3 minutes. Turns out it takes a lot less time to shower than I thought, put too much time on! Washing up station and laundry are again inside. Sinks have draining racks, bowls and washing up liquid. Washing machine and tumble dryer take 3x £1 coins each. All facilities are exceptionally clean and nice and warm. It rained heavily for our entire stay, although the tent field got muddy and 'squelchy ' it wasn't waterlogged. Ground isn't too stoney either so normal tent pegs were fine. Pub across the road is beautiful, food was amazing and good portions so worth a walk over. Location is good, easy to get to from the M6. It's not in the Lake District itself so a bit of a drive (1.5h to north peaks) but less than half an hour to Windermere. It is close to the roads but they're not busy and we still found it peaceful. It's not the prettiest area in comparison to further into the lakes but still has a countryside feel. Free Wi-Fi was a bonus too! Full signal in the far corner of the field. If I absolutely had to nit-pick, mirrors in the toilet cubicle above the sink would be useful. There's some by the other communal sinks where the hairdryer is though anyway. I guess it stops people hogging the toilet doing makeup in there. We were really impressed and would 100% stay again.
Site's response
Thank you for your lovely review of your stay with us, Jade - I'm glad that you liked the new shower, loo, laundry and washing up block. It has been open since mid Aug and is proving to be very popular! Hopefully on your return trip, the weather will be kinder for you. Paul. p.s. we didn't put mirrors into the toilet rooms for exactly the reason you said!

Toilets/shower facilities were fantastic. Very clean/modern. Huge shower rooms. Waterfall or pressure. Water can get super hot if required. 3 mins for 20p. Take a stack of 20s, ace! Grass pitching area is well maintained. Plenty of space. Nice site. Local pubs are crazy money for food!

This site is really nice. The camping field is not huge, but its a decent size. It is very close to the M6 and the A590, so very good connections to major roads and of course, the gateway to the Lake District. Owner Paul was fantastic and very helpful. He also introduced us to himself and what facilities there were around the site. A new toilet, shower and laundry block has been built near the camping ground, where it has excellent and very clean facilities. You are also within a few minutes walk away from the Crooklands pub and hotel, which we tried one evening, and had an excellent meal and local ales on offer. Overall, we really enjoyed this place, its got very clean and well looked after grounds and facilities, very welcoming and good links by road to the motorway and roads into the Lake District, would definitely come again.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and leaving such a lovely review, James. Even at the busiest times of the year, we don't "overfill" the tent field, as we always want people to have plenty of space and be comfortable. Hopefully on your next visit, the weather will be kinder and less Cumbrian! Paul.

Me and my partner booked a stay here very last minute... the owner was very welcoming and explained where everything is on the site. It was a very beautiful site from everything from the pitches to the location and facilities. Can tell the owner takes pride and care in making sure it's kept to a high standard. The value for money is amazing. Me and my partner were both amazed with the toilet and shower facilities, probably the best ones we have seen on a campsite. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

Absolutely amazing little campsite. It isn't overcrowded, the owner is absolutely delightful and texted me when he was out to make sure we got there at the right times etc. The facilities are by far the best I've ever had at a campsite! They're even better than my gym ones! The pub is a stones throw away (bonus), and they serve fab drinks on an evening that don't cost an arm and leg. Couldn't ask for more - we will be back!
