Trying out a Motorhome for the first time so decided to try one night without a hook up. All the usual facilities were there, showers, toilets, dishwashing etc. The views were amazing, site was easily accessible and it was only a short drive into Kendal if you needed to go there. The pitches were a really good size if you needed to put awning out or park a car beside your tent/Motorhome. We got a really good 4g signal so were able to stream movies or watch TV. (The weather wasn't great). Would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone who is unsure of it. Would stay there again if we were ever in the area.

We had a great stay here for 2 nights. It was our first time camping with a brand new tent. The pitches were easy to find and clearly marked. They were all really big pitches so had plenty of room for big tent and car. The campsite was quite enclosed so there wasn't any getting lost. Very clean, toilets had lights at night but still very dark, had hand soap and toilet roll which was a nice touch for basic toilets (wasn't expecting any). Make sure to take a lamp/torch. Water in the washing up area can get very hot so be careful. It is clearly stated that its hot water. The showers were ice cold! Don't know if I was doing something wrong but it was just cold water. Didn't bother us as we read online it was basic showers so didn't expect much. But with the hot water in the wash up area we assumed it would be hot showers too. I'm sure I read somewhere the camp has a no music rule, however there was music being played up top, which no one on site minded, it wasn't very loud anyway. There is a number to call/text if any problems, we didn't need to use it, I don't think anyone had any reason too. But if anything was bothering you I think their quick to respond. The floor in places is hard! So get different tent pegs. All ours are bent in half oops! Haha. Overall a really great time for 2 adults and 3 kids, age under 1, 3 and 5. There is a day out literally 5 min drive down the road which we will visit next time! 100% recommend. And we can't wait to come again!

Stayed as a family of 5 and we absolutely loved it. Lovely scenery and great facilities. Only 10 minutes away from supermarkets in Kendal. Following an unforeseen and unfortunate incident, the campsite owners were more than understanding and accommodating - willing to help us in anyway possible. They are such lovely people. The campsite is a beautiful and clean area, with free showers, toilets, drinking water and wash stations. The staff are incredible and I would 100/10 recommend staying here! Thank you to the team at Holmescales Farm Campsite and we wish you all the best.
Good basic site, some simple amendments would make it great.

Good site, lovely landscape view, Good dog /walking area, nice basic facilities and would have given more stars but site let down by a terrible driveway surface, toilet lights on sensor which wouldn't come on till nearly totally dark. Showers twice lovely and hot, once stone cold even though on solar power. Pitches on a slight slope so make sure cooking gear is able to be levelled and secure.
Super stay

Gorgeous campsite with perfect facilities. Owners are friendly and even called us to say our tent had blown down and offered to help fix it.
Pitches great for sledging in winter

While the site was cheap and the facilities were clean and usable, I can't recommend the site for a tent at all. The site boasts over 30 pitches, only around 4 are level and the vast majority are on a hillside.
Site's response
HI there, thank you for your feedback. Whilst we appreciate constructive feedback and take the time to make sure all reviews and comments are taken on board so we can improve our site. Unfortunately, we feel this comment is very exaggerated and this has not been a issue to us before.
Could do with more drying facilities

Only downside was the lack of relative drying facilities in toilets. However, what you see is what you get and by large the campsite was very good for everything else. We camped during a thunderstorm and every tent was still there in the morning, so can't have been that bad!

We stayed here for our first night in our van. The site is very clean, lovely and spaced out and facilities are easy accessible and spotless. The views are spectacular and sunset was a treat. We are hoping to head back and do some activities in the coming months - thank you so much xx

Very convenient for the M6, Kendal and the southern Lakes. The showers are brilliant, the changing area well thought out (plenty of room and clothes hooks). All facilities were kept clean, plenty of space in the pitches, and beautiful views from the site.

A lovely campsite just off the M6, perfect for us as a one night stopover. Good basic facilities with hot showers, also good pitch sizes. One negative for us was the large group opposite us who were very loud and used foul language until late at night. Maybe if someone had checked in on the site and facilities this may not have happened. However, we would use this site again.

Lovely quiet setting with small but practical facilities. Never used the shower but heard it was lovely and hot. There are two toilets cubicles for men but in the morning I had to wait for one as the other had been blocked by some people putting empty toilet tubes down the toilet. The only fly in the ointment during my stay which was only one night, a large group of families tagged together who were loud and used foul language in front of their own young children. They played music and made noise well after midnight, completely ignoring the terms about music and quiet times. Everyone else on site was very pleasant, quiet and relaxed apart from this one group who I'm guessing booked separately as the website states no large parties. Would stay again and would recommend.

A good, very basic campsite. Great views, entry road is very worn down and needs attention. Off the beaten track but close to the motorway if that makes any sense. Limited facilities, only 2 single showers so could be waiting if site was busier. Good comms from owners. I would use again as great value for money.

Loved the campsite and its simplicity. Would have been even better if there had been access to fiepits and logs onsite. Also, a covered area to sit in inclement weather would have been a bonus. Nothing fancy, just a shelter with a couple of tables big enough to sit around. Unfortunately, due to the weather being awful, we only stayed one night but this is no reflection on the site. Will definitely be using it again!

This is a lovely little campsite, it's always very clean and quiet. The facilities are basic but in good working order, the pitches are very large and you can park next to your tent which some sites don't allow. The location is very convenient for stopping overnight on the way to and from Scotland like I did, a really lovely place to rest for the night as it is so peaceful.

A happy stay at this almost empty campsite with amazing views and basic but clean facilities. There was no electric hook up, which was perfectly fine, but the absence of hot water for washing up was a disappointment. Booking and reception was efficient and friendly.

Site was lovely, was nice quiet family or couples so no party groups at time of my stay, when it states no electric site this also means no lights in toilets and shower cubicles.

Our first experience camping this weekend and we had so much fun! Everything was clean and well looked after. Only half an hour away from Ingleton falls and close to Kirkby Lonsdale; both fantastic days out. We were so sad to be leaving.

A very nice and peaceful spot located close to Kendal and the main roads. We both really enjoyed our time in Cumbria and would absolutely stay again when next up that way. Very easy and very relaxing.
