About the site
Situated high in the northern lakes on the fringe of the Lake District National Park, the site enjoys spectacular views over the Solway plain and Cumbrian Fells. It is also within a handy 25 minute drive of Carlisle, Wigton, Bassenthwaite Lake and Cockermouth - perfect for days of adventure!
For tent campers, there are both 6m x 10m or smaller two person non electric grass pitches. If you would rather opt for an electric hook up, there are spacious 12m x 16m pitches with the bonus of 6 amp hook ups.
Campervans, motorhomes, roof tents and caravans can park up on the 13m x 15m hardstanding pitches with grass surroundings and space for an awning. These are fully serviced with 10 amp electric, grey waste points and a cold water drinking tap.
For an added touch of luxury, there are six fully serviced 8m x 5m hardstanding pitches with their own private hot tubs. You will also have a deck area with seating and fairy lights, perfect for al fresco dining.
Or, if glamping is more your style, opt for one of the cosy cabins or lodges, each with a private outdoor decking, BBQ and electric hot tub. All include ensuite bathrooms, bedding, linen, towels, heating, TVs, kitchens and WiFi.
Each of the glamping cabins features a double bed and bunk bed, whilst Merlin, Lapwing and Curlew also have an additional double sofa bed. Skylark has a king size bedroom and twin bedroom, whilst Osprey has just a king size bedroom. The treehouse features a log burner, along with a double and twin bedroom.
Dogs are welcome to join you, with up to two pups per pitch or glamping unit. The site even has its own beautiful mile-long dog walk, which runs alongside woodland and farmland where deer and honey buzzards can be seen, along with a warm doggy shower for muddy paws!
Fire pits and BBQs are welcome, as long as they are raised from the ground and can be hired from the onsite shop.
Camping and glamping is available all year round except for non electric pitches which are available March to December.
Facilities include three heated toilet and shower blocks, one of which includes private family bathrooms. A laundry room is available with coin operated washing machines, dryers and ironing boards. There are communal fridges/freezers, along with both indoor and outdoor washing up areas. There is a kettle, toaster and microwave, along with charging lockers for devices.
A dog walking area circles the perimeter of the park, with a warm doggy shower too. Free WiFi is available, along with four EV chargers. The onsite shop stocks essentials, including chilled and frozen food, eggs from the farm chickens, ice cream, drinks, toys and camping equipment.
Fire pits and BBQs can be hired onsite with charcoal, logs, kindling, firelighters, marshmallows, and skewers available.
The Sun Inn and pubs in South End are within a five minute drive. Caldbeck Village Store is also a five minute drive, with a larger Lidl ten minutes away.
A note from the site themselves...
One of the reasons we love owning and running Wallace Lane Farm is the fact we get to meet so many people, living on site means we often get to know our guests who return year after year.
In the rural location we are its great to see families escaping the every day and exploring woodland and fields around the site together, then later huddled up around a fire pit toasting marshmallows under a star filled sky.

Great communication, the reception staff were most helpful. A good sized pitch, very clean and excellent facilities. Great value.
My only concern was that despite requesting a quiet pitch, I felt it was like being on a roundabout! Ideally located close to the toilet / shower block but there was a constant flow of people past the van to use the facilities, often stopping to chat to each other. The waste disposal point was located at the back of the pitch resulting in every van / caravan stopping at the rear of my van to empty their toilet.
The occupants of the caravan in front of pitch 21 walked across the grass along the right side of the van and others walked near the path to the left of the van resulting in anything other than a peaceful pitch.
Despite this I would recommend the site, it's great, just don't go on pitch 21 unless you're happy with a constant stream of people walking around you!

What a lovely site and very helpful owners. Despite the heavy snow, it was great to have a location that we could still enjoy a get away to, will certainly love to return. Thank you.
