Our first foray into the campervan ownership lifestyle. We found selecting & booking this campsite, online, very easy, We received rapid booking & payment confirmation, along with directions & some info about the site we'd selected. We found the site fairly easily & felt it was perfect for our initiation into taking our little van conversion away. We felt that the site seemed very well laid out & everything well managed. The facilities were kept very clean too. The site manager & caretaker seemed very friendly, welcoming & helpful. Our dogs also enjoyed their stay & it was good to see a dog poo bin provided. In an ideal world, it would be fab to maybe have a fenced enclosure/exercise area, where space allows, or maybe the option to pay an additional premium to have a fenced/enclosed pitch, so K9's could be safely off lead when within the allocated pitch? We will definitely look to revisit & recommend to our friends & family.

Good location for Exmouth. Unfortunately, there was noise and smell from sewage works along the road from the site during our stay.
Site's response
Hi Elaine, I am sorry you were disturbed by the water treatment plant run by South West Water. We call them whenever we get a complaint but very little is done about it. A direct complaint from guests could go someway to making them take notice, but it's a battle with them.
Lovely campsite!

Absolutely loved our stay at Prattshayes! The location was perfect and we cycled down to the beach every day. Really nice, secluded pitches and plenty of space in each. The only downside was that the showers were very, very hot, which made showering slightly unpleasant.
Good campsite

Nice quiet site. Clean and tidy, great staff. Limited shop, seem to cater more for bar than an essentials shop. No ice available while we were there, limited freezer space for ice packs. No control of the hot water in the showers, so if you like it hot you're lucky. Pitches were generous, we were lucky with the weather, great place to use as a base to explore the area. Easy walk will get you onto the Blue Flag beach at Exmouth.

Nice little site and a short walk to the beach. Nice washing up area with plenty of water outlets. The only downside was the fact there are only 3 showers for men and 3 for women, 3 toilets for women and 2 for men, plus 3 urinals, to cover the entire site! We were close to the wedding venue and it didn't stop till 11pm and it was loud. There were 2 weddings over the 4 nights we were there! All in all it's good value for money, just a shame about the showers and toilets.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. I'm pleased to tell you our new shower block is under construction and will be in situ for next season. It is unusual for us to have two weddings in one week, so that was unfortunate for you, although the campsite also has an 11pm curfew for music and loud behaviour, so it's all quiet by 11pm, which is good. Hope you revisit and enjoy the new facilities :-)

We hired a camper van locally to us and booked a few sites on route to Devon. This is a lovely quiet campsite with clean facilities. Nice level ground and really quiet at night. We stayed 2 nights and made use of the bar for a nice cold cider. It's only about a 20 min walk up the lane to Exmouth where you can walk or get the open-top bus along the front. We will definitely come back.

This was a lovely little campsite and I stayed for 2 nights to attend a wedding at the attached venue. I have severe arthritis and asked to have a pitch close to the wedding venue. I was given the one right next to the entrance which was brilliant - except I was then told during the evening I couldn't use this entrance and had to walk all the way out to the road to gain entry. This was very difficult for me and I would have liked to have been told that when I was allocated my pitch. There was really little point in giving me the pitch next to the entrance gate to then be told I couldn't access it!
Site's response
Hi Carolyn, did you explain to the person who told you that you couldn't use the gate that we had allocated you that pitch because of your problem? I'm really sorry that you had a bad experience with us and that it's taken this amount of time to reply. Kind regards, Marylou.

The location is good for Exmouth, being just a 10 to 15 minute cycle ride away. The assistant is friendly and helpful. The place is busy with a cheerful atmosphere. It has enough facilities for a short stay, which I believe is all it offers anyway. A few negatives: the entrance is on a narrow lane that doesn't feel all that safe for cycling or walking; the site is small with no water feed or waste water drain; and you do feel quite closely surrounded by your neighbours. We enjoyed our stay though.

Great place to stay with superb service on site. Near enough to place to go but a place to stay that is in the countryside - so very little noise apart from the sound of wildlife.

So glad you liked the site and the service, it does the team good to know their hard work pays off. Thank you.

Very pleasant stay. The lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful. There were many guests on the square but it was still not too loud. The sanitary facilities could be a bit bigger.

Pratthayes is a beautiful, peaceful campsite with gorgeous views. Great location with an easy, pretty 15-20 minutes walk into Exmouth centre and beach. Mary Lou at the campsite was very helpful and attentive. The facilities are perfect for a small site. We will definitely recommend to friends and family and visit again.

Lovely and quiet. Only a few pitches in use when we were there. The site manager was helpful, but not bothersome. Short bit of a narrow lane to get there. It did say it had a bar and shop, but bar was not open and the shop only open for a short time. The site could do with a few more lights as it's too dark at night to use the toilets or showers. It would also be good if you had something to stand on after you get out of the shower, and somewhere dry to get dressed. No internet. A few minutes by car to the beach.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. The reception and bar run on reduced hours this early in the season. We open every morning from 10 am and if the weather is good and the site is busy, I stay open until about 6pm. But if it's very quiet and raining, the bar will be closed as we only have outside seating. As the season progresses, the opening hours will increase. We have put in solar lights, which should help navigation around the site. We are also waiting for the floors to be treated in the shower block and then we will have plastic matting to go down to help with keeping feet dry. Thank you for bringing those things to our attention.

The site itself is in a great location, 20 minute walk down a lane but it is quite narrow and busy with no footpath and then stroll in Exmouth. The pitches are a great size and you can see planting has been done to separate them. The showers are not good at all, very small cubicle with no where to put your clothes except the wet floor or a few hooks. For the price, I was hoping for something better so not the best value for money.

Thanks for your review Alison.

Everything was lovely except the male showers. Whilst the temperature and water pressure are fine, the sides of the cubicles are too low, meaning that people on either side can see in whilst you are showering, reducing privacy. Taller screens are required. Also, maybe more info on local stuff - buses, wildlife etc.
Site's response
Thank you for your comment, Louise. We will talk to our maintenance team about a way forward with the men's shower cubicles. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise. Louise, Prattshayes Campsite.
