Tucked away in a hidden valley, Wild Oak Woods Eco Campsite offers a peaceful off-grid escape, just a ten minute walk from Sandyhills Bay beach. Nestled amongst Oak woodlands, there are two non electric pitches for small tents and campervans, plus four cosy glamping cabins with solar lighting and wood burners. There is a handy communal kitchen and outdoor shelter, with Dalbeattie just ten minutes away too. Dogs are also welcome!

About the site
Situated within a hidden valley surrounded by hills, woodland and wildlife. This eco, off-grid campsite is ideal for a relaxing getaway amongst nature with regular visiting deer and red squirrels, with activities such as eco tours, night walks and den building available. For small tents, there is a 2m x 3m grass pitch with its own eco compost loo and outdoor sink. There is also a gently sloping 6m x 6m hardstanding pitch with room for up to two campervans, located close to the facilities block. There are also four woodland glamping cabins, perfect for a cosy escape. All of the cabins have 12v solar lighting and a wood burning stove. The Daisy cabin is built on wheels, set close to the facilities block, sleeping up to two with a double bed. There are also two large cabins with a double bedroom and double futon bed, along with the Millie cabin which includes a bunk bedroom and a double futon. Each of the four person cabins also has a private compost loo, a decking area and rustic outdoor furniture. Get up close and experience the natural wildlife surrounding you in this small friendly campsite. You'll enjoy space, privacy and comfort within a 54 acre nature reserve. Home to an abundance of wildlife, including badgers and Roe deer, revenue from the site helps to manage the reserve for both wildlife and people. The whole site is dog friendly, with up to two pups permitted per pitch and glamping cabin. Evenings can be spent cooking up a BBQ, just please ensure it is raised from the ground. Do note, open fires are not permitted.

Site rules and policies
Well behaved dogs are welcome only by prior arrangement. Dogs must not be left unattended in the camping cabins, are not allowed in the facilities block. Dogs must be kept on a lead in the campsite and nature reserve and all dog waste must be bagged and binned.
Wild Oak Woods is a quiet site and you are asked to respect this by not playing canned music audibly out with your accommodation and making no noise after 11pm and before 8am.
Children must be supervised at all times.
There is no smoking in any of the buildings and all cigarette ends should be thoroughly extinguished before placing in a bin.
Cabin wood burners must not be left burning whilst you are out or asleep.
Please leave all area's in a clean and tidy fashion, as you and others would like to find them.
For the benefit of wildlife, our neighbours and the environment please keep car journeys to a minimum.
Things to do on site and in the Dalbeattie area
Just a 20 minute walk from the campsite, Sandyhills Bay Beach offers golden sands and stunning coastal views. It's a fantastic spot for a relaxing stroll, rock pooling, or even a refreshing dip in the sea. The beach is also popular with kayakers and paddleboarders.
For those who love cycling, Dalbeattie Forest is right next door and home to one of the famous 7Stanes mountain biking trails. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, you'll find routes suited to all skill levels, winding through beautiful woodland.
History lovers will enjoy a visit to Threave Castle and Gardens, around a 25 minute drive away. Accessible by a short boat ride, this medieval fortress sits on an island in the River Dee and offers a glimpse into Scotland's past.
