The Hen's Dens at Orchard Organic Farm are orchard grass pitches and timber tent camping and glamping pods, carefully set within a quiet part of an orchard. Sleeping up to five and dog friendly, they're ideal for couples and families. Stay on an attractive, small farm site, set in Devon countryside and close to a lovely beach. Open year round and only 15 minutes from Torquay and its beach vibes.

I stayed over for a single night on probably one of the worst days in terms of tent camping weather this year with high winds and constant rain. The pitch (Greensleeve) didn't flood and was well drained and more importantly for a tent, was well protected from the 35mph winds. Ablutions were very clean with plenty of hot water & good water pressure as well. It's not a huge sprawling site, so peaceful and calm. There's a shared fireplace near the kitchenette/wash up facilities which I didn't use but looked great. The hosts are very helpful and went the extra mile to help out with a piece of equipment I didn't have, which was much appreciated. I'd definitely use The Hen's Den again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quaint & personal place to stay.

Peaceful stay in a fabulous orchard location

The pitches are angled into the orchard and so you are surrounded by apples and greenery. There are only about five pitches, so there's no danger of feeling overcrowded. We found our stay very peaceful and comfortable (loved the fact that the shower rooms were heated).

A totally relaxing site. Private pitches with discreet clean shower/toilet block close by. Set in lovely apple orchards that happened to be ripe during our stay. Delightful countryside offering long walks for us and our dog off the lead. It was by far the most relaxing, quiet site we have stayed in and will definitely return if we decide to holiday in Devon in the future. Full marks to the owners.

Great rustic and quirky site set in an orchard. Super, if strenuous, walking along the coast to Teignmouth. Good pubs nearby. Friendly staff and lovely fresh eggs.

Small site - 6 tent hook up pitches and individual shower and toilet units with plenty of hot water- 20 metres from the tent area. Washing up facilities ✅ lovely beaches walking/run distance depending on fitness. 2 miles to Teignmouth or 2 miles the other way to Torbay. Will be going again - shouldn't really have given a great review as I don't want loads of people knowing about it - wanted to keep it to ourselves, but that's not in the spirit of camping.

Stayed over bank holiday weekend and it was a perfect getaway. Close to the coast with only short walk to the Maidencombe beach and the coastal path. Really friendly and helpful owners and a beautiful campsite :)

Eco aware site. Lots of hot water for washing dishes and showering. Kettle, toaster and washing machine available, which was a great addition. I'd love to come back in the spring when the trees are in blossom!

Set in a beautiful spot, in the prettiest of villages. The facilities were spot on, very clean and had everything I needed. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the owners dog made a lovely companion to play a bit of fetch with.

We wanted somewhere near the sea and near Bovey Tracey and Dartmoor too and this was spot on. A lovely snug place with pitches within the orchard and good facilities. The owner was very friendly and helpful and we had a visit from his border collie, who kept offering a stick! There was also a fire pit there which I enjoyed when I woke early….that full moon 😁 My only slight concern was the steps down to the facilities were uneven and quite a lot of loose stones…but perhaps this is a work in progress?

I am not someone who goes camping, and my husband is. We have three young children who we've tried camping with before and I've hated it - until visiting the Hens Den! We booked a glamping hut (okay, okay, so not really camping), and I loved it so much that we are already rounding family up to book again with us next year! I sent a video of the accommodation and facilities and they are sold! First - the accommodation is perfect, simple, well kept, we paid extra for a double bed which was all ready for us. It was an absolute ease to find and to "check in". Second- the facilities were beyond our expectations. Each den had its own little kitchenette and bathroom - you've got a microwave, kettle, fridge/freeze, shower, toilet, sink, and BBQ area to yourself. You then also have a washing machine between guests for a donation, and the games room, which my children adored. There is also a fire pit which we didn't get round to using, but certainly will next time! Third - the location. You're on this beautiful apple orchard, my children spent actual hours and hours playing hide and seek tag and playing in this orchard with the farm dog (who is also super friendly!). You're literally 10 minutes from Torquay so we spent visited there a couple times and went crabbing etc - we also visited Paignton which was 20 minutes away and did the beach, zoo, and pier. There's really on overwhelming feeling of safeness here - my children were the most independent they've ever been and I felt safe letting them play in the games room/ orchard without my constant supervision (they're not young young!). It was so peaceful. The little farm shop was great, though sadly no milk there throughout our trip- we did buy ice creams though :) Thank you Hens Den- we can't wait to see you next year!

We were staying for a short break attending a local summer party. I really appreciated the separate bathroom and kitchen. Very clean. We ordered the double bed - which led to a very comfortable night sleep.

Couple staying in large tent

Excellent facilities, decent pitch size, perhaps very slightly too small for our maximum size family tent. Farm shop was a very good addition and used frequently by us. Easy to find and access, and very good connections. Would recommend. If I had to give any criticism, it would be that the lighting in the toilets/power stations was very bright and on all night. There could be a 'dark' period. Pitch needed grass growing in a bit more, but this is a minor inconvenience.
