Things to do on site and in the Leicester area
Enjoy walking in and around Stoney Stanton. Footpaths and bridle paths take you to the village of Croft, just across the fields, where you can find Croft Glebe, a Woodland Trust location. Relax afterwards with a drink in the Heathcote Arms. There are several other walking trails in the area too.
There is open water swimming at Stanton Lakes in association with SwimStation. This takes place twice a week in the summer and for good swimmers it is a great opportunity to try wild swimming in a safe environment.
Hinckley Canoe Club takes to the water every Thursday summer evening, and the Broughton Astley Sea Cadets go paddling once a month. Hinckley Scouts Annual Summer Raft Race is hosted here and there are weekly remote controlled model yacht sailing races happening all year round.
The park and ride service offers a quick bus route into the City of Leicester to see matches (the Leicester Tigers for rugby or Leicester City for football fans) or enjoy the arts, museums and theatres. The King Richard III exhibition is a highlight and you won't want to miss Newarke House and Gardens or Leicester Cathedral.
Picking up a bargain is easy at Croft Car Boot, held on summer Sunday mornings in good weather - just down the road from where you're staying.
