Ross Rowing Club Camping provides the perfect setting to rest while on a paddling trip down the Wye or just pull up while travelling the Wye Valley AONB to relax in natural surrouds. This 12 acre site has all the space needed for large groups such as scout troops and other expeditions.

About Ross Rowing Club Camping

RRC provides the perfect setting to rest in the surrounds of the River Wye, or explore the beautiful Wye Valley in detail. The site is right on the river and very close to the market town of Ross-on-Wye, so you can walk there for further amenities. This is a great back to nature experience for anyone who loves the water and the outdoors. Campers can pitch on the rowing club lawns (as long as there isn't an event like the beer festival or the regatta on) and on the fields, which are behind and upriver from the boat house. There's 12 acres of land so there is no problem accommodating large groups (during the August Bank Holiday rowing regatta over 1,000 rowers and their families stay on site). Along with tent campers, RVs, mobile homes, campervans and caravans are all welcome, but electric is not available. Up to 2 dogs per pitch can join you for your holiday. Pitches are occupied on a first-come-first-served basis. For large groups the staff can designate protected areas for scout, guide or D of E groups in order to help them fulfill their safeguarding children responsibilities. Very large groups of 50 or more have the option to hire the entire site, too.

Open all year

Currently we do not allow campfires. If you would like to BBQ please be in touch after booking to discuss.

We are a small, friendly club campsite so if you're looking to have a party, to make excessive noise or disturb your camping neighbours then we are not the place for you. There is strictly no plugged in or loud music at any time. All noise must be kept to a minimum after 10:30pm.

A maximum of 2 dogs per pitch are allowed, provided they are kept on a lead at all times and cleared up after straight away.

Please let us know if you're bringing a dog in the additional requirements box at the end of the booking process.

Standard camping pitches: Arrivals from midday - 8pm and departure 11am.

First and foremost is the popular activity of a paddling trip down the Wye, or taking trips in a boat/canoe/kayak on this serene waterway.

For walkers, too, this is a great area, being ideally placed in the Wye Valley which is just waiting to be explored. The Herefordshire Trail long distance footpath runs very close to the site, passing through Ross-on-Wye.

After that, you'll want to visit Wilton Castle, just across the river from the site. There you'll find romantic ruins dating back to the 12th century and some stunning gardens. A short drive away is the even more iconic Goodrich Castle, famed for its intact state.

By driving down the A40 you can reach Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo which is full of colourful species and also hosts a maze puzzle and minigolf.

Other great attractions in the area include:

  • Parkfields Gallery in Ross-on-Wye
  • The Thomas Blake Memorial Gardens
  • Symonds Yat West Leisure Park
