About Wild Wool Barn
Calling all adventurers - this is the site you've been looking for! Here you have direct access to the fells, trails and lake, so once you park up, you can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and walk/cycle/run onto and around the fells direct from the door. This is the place to get away from it all and camp in blissful isolation away from crowds. This small site offers two grass pitches for two-person tents, three for solo walkers and one grass pitch for four people, with shared facilities nearby. Boasting uninterrupted views of Crag Fell, Steeple and Pillar in the Ennerdale Valley, the only sounds you will hear are the waters of the beck and the birds singing. No WiFi also gives campers more time to appreciate the incredible views and fresh air. The site is only available to families and small groups with a maximum of 6 people at any one time for a limited number of weeks/weekends per year. You will often have the site to yourself. The site is particularly loved by families where the children can run about without fear of passing cars with plenty of space to play games and explore. Dogs are welcome too. You can also stay in a bunkhouse. The Archway bunkroom is a traditional dormitory style with shared accommodation or the Wild Wool Barn is suitable for families or small groups of up to six with an option to rent the whole site, including the camping pitches for an increased group size of 12. If you love hiking, mountaineering, exploring and going to parts of the Lake District others have yet to discover, this hidden gem of a site is what you're looking for.
The site is open from 26th July to 15th September and then from 26th October to 3rd November.
