Centrally located within a half hour drive of the north and south coasts, Gwel-an-Nans Farm, or 'Farm on the Hill' in Cornish, is a working farm. The setting is secluded, with pretty woodland all around. It has pitches for caravans and tents in a spacious 2.5 acre site, close to Bodmin Moor.
About Gwel-an-Nans
It's so tranquil here, you may want to stay on site and enjoy the local two mile nature trail, with steps down to the hidden wooded valley, or in the evenings hire a fire pit and enjoy toasting marshmallows - not to be missed! Next to the site is a separate, enclosed safe playing field for children of all ages to have a kick about, run around and play in the fresh air. Sheila, and her daughter Norma will offer you a warm, Cornish welcome to the 74 acre farm. It's a completely flat site with 16-Amp electric hook-ups for its grass and hardstanding pitches.

Things to do on site and in the Bodmin area
The best of cycling can be found here, with something to get all levels pumped up. Spin your wheels on the moor right outside the entrance or challenge yourself to off-roading in Cardinham Woods which feature the 12km Bodmin Beast and two tough red graded trails.
Best for families are the trails at Lanhydrock cycle hub (4 miles) or perhaps the famous Camel Trail.
A quick 9 mile drive will take you to the iconic Eden Project, or you'll be equally fascinated by the Lost Gardens of Heligan (15 miles).
National Trust fans can see the island fairytale at St. Michael's Mount (49 miles), or perhaps Lanhydrock House (4 miles) and Cotehele (19 miles).
The northern coastline is known for its dramatic cliffs, surfing beaches (think of Watergate Bay and Holywell Bay) or breathtaking coastal paths. Balance that against the south coast which has a great choice of beaches for the family (Polkerris, Looe, Carlyon Bay, Par) and these can all be found within 30 minutes in the car.
Polkerris Beach, in particular is great for water sports and you can hire a SUP or kayak (10 mile drive).
To get a taste for the local culture, try a tour and a bite in these fishing villages - Fowey, Polperro, Padstow, Port Issac, Rock or Charlestown are all within a 40 minute drive.
