Why you'll love it at Henbant Permaculture Farm and Campsite

About the site

A busy farm and community working hard to create a more beautiful world. The camping is still pretty wild but the farm has lots of facilities, a shop, a small cafe in season, toilets showers, a big barn to hang out in and try out your circus skills, a permaculture library, farm animals, a busy market garden as well as the wild parts of the farm to get lost in. Henbant grows veg, meat, eggs and milk, but on a small and regenerative human scale that will provide food and fuel for visitors to the farm and the local community. There is no big flat campground where you can drive up to your tent, but instead a beautiful fairy-style meadow for you to camp in. A stream runs close by. You'll enjoy lovely views all around.

A note from the site themselves...

We are on a mission to prove that you can buy a small farm on a mortgage and you can make it pay for itself, whilst producing real nutrient dense food, whilst building soil, building biodiversity and building community and most importantly you can enjoy it. If we can prove a model for this then it provides a pathway for anyone to step in the more beautiful world we know in our hearts can exist. Join Us!

The site does encourage you have a fire, but don't allow fires in the woods or big bonfires.

On safety:

Henbant is not a sanitised playground, it's a farm and it's wild land, there are places to trip, places to fall and even get lost. It is real and nobody has hurt themselves here yet, but please use your common sense.

Please be aware that conditions can be windy and cold out here, there are views of Snowdon on one side and mother ocean to the other side, please bring warm clothes, waterproofs and a good quality warm sleeping bag (though the site does have all these things if you don't or forget).

Dogs are very welcome but this is a working farm so they must be well behaved, controlled and cleaned up after.

The site is close to the sea and beaches, just 20-30 mins from Caernarfon, Porthmadog and Pwllheli. Snowdon is in view and it's a 15-20 min drive to the nearest route up.

You can swim in the farm's lake or paddle around it in a small boat. Collect wood in the area and build a fire for roasting marshmallows in the evenings, while during the day you meet the animals on the farm. There is salad and veg that you can pick from the site's garden in the season.

Other things to do:

  • Play in the garden, jump on the trampoline
  • Get lost in the woods
  • Go for a paddle on the lake
  • Hit the seaside, which is 4 miles away
  • Watch the stars
  • Find some bugs, glimpse bunny rabbits or bird watch
  • Read a book from the site library
  • Hang out in the barn, get a coffee

Porthmadog, Pwllheli and Caernarfon Bangor are all a 20-30 min drive away.
