Farm on the Hill is a secluded and non commercial site which offers meadow and woodland pitches, alongside pitches to suit small groups, surrounded by excellent countryside. It's only two miles from Alton Towers and also in reach of beautiful Dovedale. Campfires welcome.

About the site


Close to the hamlet of Prestwood, this is a small and idyllic site, looking out over the Churnet Valley and the Weaver Hills - which are sure to tempt walkers. All pitches are non electric and set within 24 acres of natural surroundings. From well sheltered two person pitches nestled into a private woodland clearing to wider spaces that will suit families and friends, there's something for everyone here. A number of picnic benches are available, every pitch has a fire pit and small VW style campervans may be able to stay depending on weather conditions, please enquire. Sorry, dogs are not allowed.

Site facilities include a solar powered shower, compost toilet, sinks with hot water and a sauna. The site can hire out BBQs and bikes, while there are also books for you to borrow.

A four minute drive takes you to a tavern at Denstone. Down the road is Denstone Hall farm shop which also has a cafe.

19 x Meadow and Woodland Camping Pitches

Pitches set in mown clearings to suit tents and small VW sized campervans, all without electric.

Secret Garden Pitch

Secluded space surrounded by tall hedges and mature trees which has space for between one and four tents across the pitch. Ideal for small groups of adults.



Arrival is anytime from 2pm onwards and departure is by 12pm on the day that you leave.

Dogs are not allowed.


Hire a bike and get adventuring, the valley is a great place to ride with lots of traffic free options and both short and longer, more challenging routes.

There are also great walks aplenty, with the Peak District only about 7 miles from this base for anyone looking to explore its full range of outdoor activities.
