About Gurt Yurt
This glamping yurt is a haven for tranquillity and wildlife, resting on top of the Mendips and surrounded by beautiful vistas. You can listen to the birdsong and may even encounter the local deer. Explore the area further with a day trip to Cheddar, visiting the famous Gorge.
The yurt is equipped with luxury king sized double bed plus two singles that appear when needed (Egyptian cotton bedding), private veranda with views across to South Wales and the Brecon Beacons. You can also bring your dog! Let the site know when you book and they will make sure they have dog friendly bedding, along with water bowl and dog treats.
Below this is the yurt's own private washhouse (including a hot shower). Down on the ground is a covered cooking area with fire pit to BBQ up a feast or toast marshmallows into the following morning.
Below this, the plum tree houses a hammock and shade. Your own meadow can be used for private picnics, games of badminton or boule, or just lie down and smell the flowers. The wild deer wander past most mornings and the rescue chickens will be around to help clear up. Switch your phone off and relax.
You can also book a Batch Belle tent with your booking, accommodating up to additional guests in the Gurt Yurt meadow field.
Gurt Yurt is open from 01/04 to 31/10 in 2024 and from 28/03 to 01/11 in 2025.

Really couldn't have been better. The setting is beautiful and secluded. The yurt was comfortable and well-equipped; it had everything we needed to eat drink and relax across the weekend.
Tim, the owner, was amazingly hospitable, warm and helpful.
Every detail had been thought through. We would definitely stay again.

Yurt - YurtAug 2023
Gurt Yurt is a gem! After driving up the steep and very bumpy approach road (it’s worth it!), we arrived to a complementary bottle of prosecco and pressed apple juice! Tim and Sara are welcoming and friendly and really go the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The yurt is secluded and offers great views. The beds were comfortable and the woodfire stove kept the chill away. The shower (good pressure) and compost toilet (no offensive odour) were modern and clean. Tim and Sara have rescued battery hens (that the kids got to handle) and an apple orchard (which we sampled). As a bonus, the kids even learnt to drive a tractor! One of the highlights of our holiday.

Yurt - YurtJul 2023
We had a lovely time in the Gurt Yurt- 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 13).
The location is perfect- you feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere, yet everything you need is not far at all. We had a couple of lovely days out as well as spending a couple of days at the site.
Tim was a brilliant host- he checked in enough to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us advice on where to head when we asked, but otherwise left us to our own devices so that we could enjoy the place!
We took 2 dogs with us and they enjoyed it just as much as the rest of us! The yurt had plenty of space for us all and wasn't cramped in the slightest- we found it to be very family friendly.
We have since recommended to friends who have booked to come soon, and hope to come back ourselves as well!
