About Burns Farm Caravan, Campsite and Glamping

This idyllic site is on a traditional working farm, tucked just a mile from the village of Threlkeld and three miles from well known Keswick There are 30 spacious hardstanding fully serviced touring pitches with grey water disposal, water and electric hook-up. Here, pitches are very flat and well drained offering 5m x 12m hardstanding fully serviced pitches which are separated from each other by a 3m x 12m grass seating area. The three camping fields offer gorgeous mountain views of Blencathra, Skiddaw, Helvellyn Range, Causey Pike and other beautiful mountains. The 360 degree views are really something to be seen. You're welcome to park next to your pitch and light up a fire pit in the camping fields, the perfect way to keep toasty and stargaze from your pitch at night. Especially as this is a Dark Sky site, with only low watt lighting in use so that you can enjoy excellent stargazing. There are also five luxury family camping bell tents which are fully dressed and ready to enjoy a cosy weekend away. Luxury cabins with mountain views and private hot tubs are also available. You're welcome to bring your pooch along with you, though one of the camping fields does not allow dogs.

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include a large modern luxurious shower block with underfloor heating, two disabled rooms using RADAR key locks as well as two bookable private bathrooms and three bookable private wet rooms for added luxury and privacy.

You'll also have access to a large, undercover dish washing room. Free WiFi is provided.

A note from the site themselves...

Burns Farm is almost 90 years old. It is among one of the oldest working farm sites in the Lake District. Bought back in 1936 by Arthur Lamb it is now managed by the 3rd and 4th generation of the Lamb Family.

Since 2018 Burns Farm has been transformed from a traditional Lakeland Farm Caravan Site into an award-winning caravan, camping and glamping Site.

Grass pitches without electric in a big field with plenty of shelter, Super size pitch 9m x 8m and large size pitch 9m x 6m. Sorry no pets.

49 x Non Electric Grass Pitches (Pet Friendly)

Non electric grass pitches suitable for tents and campervans only. Super pitches measure 9m x 12m and large pitches measure 9m x 6m. Dogs are welcome.

30 x Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches

Max 6 people

Pitches on grass covered hardstanding with 10 amp electric hook ups, fresh and grey water. These are ideal for caravans and campervans. Awnings must not exceed 3m wide.

No party groups are permitted. Families, couples and single campers only due to the family atmosphere of the campsite.

Contained campfires and BBQ's are allowed, along with a rent a fire pit delivery service. All fire pits and BBQ's must be on legs so as not to burn the grass, please. The site does not allow disposable BBQs!


If you've come to the Lakes, it's usually for an adventure over land or shimmering water! If it's water that attracts you, don't miss a gentle glide around Derwent Water, plus there are water sports, kayaking and much more to try. A hop in the car will take you straight to the Ullswater Steamers.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District in the picturesque Valley of St John's in the Vale, Burns Farm is surrounded by some of the country's largest mountains, Helvellyn, Skiddaw and Blencathra, but it also has beautiful lowland and river walks, including the Keswick to Threlkeld railway path.

The site is three miles east of Keswick Town and shops, one mile from Threlkeld Village and pubs, 15 miles from the M6 motorway and half a mile from the A66, on a wide road. The nearest lake, Lake Derwentwater is just three miles, making Burns Farm the ideal location to explore the Lake District.

You can get off the ground and test your head for heights with the incredible Via Ferrata, or spend time discovering the fabulous Whinlatter Forest and enchanting Grizedale Forest.

Keswick itself is a lovely place to get lost in with tasty bakeries and delicatessens for hungry tummies and a fresh local farmers' market every week.
