Kinloch Campsite maintains a warm, family-run site atmosphere and allows visitors to access the secluded beauty of the Isle of Skye. Located on the shore of the beautiful Loch Dunvegan and surrounded by majestic countryside such as the MacLeod's Tables, there's also the chance to take in Dunvegan Castle and the Coral Beach.

About Kinloch Campsite

Kinloch Campsite is a small friendly campsite in an amazing location, offering visitors to the Isle of Skye a great base to explore the island from and see more of the Hebrides. The site provides large tent areas where campers can choose their own spot to pitch their tents, and capture views of the lovely countryside. Electric hook-ups are also available for tent campers. For those in caravans or motorhomes there are hardstanding pitches with space for awnings and electric hook ups close to the loch. The village of Dunvegan is a 5 minute walk from the campsite and has a range of shops, cafes and services. It is worth remembering that Skye is primarily an outdoor destination and that the weather here can be very variable, even in the summer. Waterproofs and walking shoes are always a good idea!

Near to the campsite, Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point and the Coral Beach are worth visiting and can easily be seen in a day. The famous castle was the seat of the Chiefs of the Clan MacLeod for over 800 years and is now one of Skye's most popular attractions. On offer is also an excellent boat trip to see the seals on the islands in Dunvegan Loch.

Neist Point is a good spot for wildlife watching as dolphins and whales are often seen by keen-eyed visitors there. There are many boat trips going from various points on the island for fishing and wildlife spotting too so you can get even closer.

Food wise there are several cafes and restaurants in the village, all within walking distance as well as a general store and greengrocer. Three top restaurants compete for your attention in the area including one that has a Michelin star, so why not test them all out?

Further afield, the Fairy Pools are also very popular for their crystal blue waters and folklore. People often then go on to the nearby Talisker Distillery. If you want to take a tour, however, it would be wise to book ahead - the tasting tours of the distillery can book up!

The Trotternish peninsular also has a lot to offer and is an ideal daytrip. Starting from Uig and going clockwise there is the Fairy Glen, the Museum of Island Life and Flora MacDonalds grave. You can also explore Duntulm Castle, the walk to Rubha Hunish (another good point to see wildlife) and the dramatic Quiraing (as seen in several films).

You will then come to Staffin Beach where there are dinosaur footprints in the rock, Kilt Rock Waterfall and Lealt Falls, the Old Man of Storr and Portree, the capital of the island.

Portree is a charming fishing port not far from site with many shops, restaurants, cafes, and a large supermarket. There is a Tourist Information in Portree as well.

All over Skye there are many artists' studios and craft shops, many of which also have cafes, so why not drop in and admire their work, or even have a try yourself!
