About West Lexham

Escape the daily grind with a stay in this holistic retreat venue. Explore a stunning Norfolk estate, teeming with nature and wildlife and set within an idyllic river valley. Here you can discover the joys of wild swimming and stargazing by the campfire thanks to the shared fire pits. The style here is 'optimal living' where you'll tread lightly on the environment (renewables power almost everything around you), get away from it all and treat yourself to unique and luxurious glamping. Bell tents offer an upgrade on camping with a note of real luxury, and each one sleeps up to four people. Ideally suited to couples or families, they are furnished with vibrant interiors and spread across the site, in locations that offer privacy and relaxation. Surrounded by gardens and woodland, with both lakeside and riverside spots, are a set of gorgeous boho chic treehouses. Each is decked out with rustic pieces and all the comforts of home. Sunrise is the largest treehouse - and it's truly a spectacle to behold. Sleeping six between two double/twin beds and one twin and it includes French doors, two bedrooms, an open plan living room and even Georgian sash windows. Tinker Tree House, the country's first to be made available for overnight stays, is perfect for an intimate retreat for two. It makes for a fabulous cosy treetop bolthole, with enticing views out over the lake from its balcony. The showstopper is Quercus, which boasts an open-plan mezzanine design with grand four-poster beds and even a wood-fired kitchen. Tilia Tree House is a similar design to Quercus and stands the tallest but with its own unique design and sunny south-facing view over the treetops. Ideal for families with small children are the tree temples which are only a little way off the ground, so no need for a real head for heights. They offer an eclectic mix of a tree house, yurt and safari tent! Ash Tree Temple sleeps four between a double bed and bunk bed, and even comes with stained glass windows, while the smaller Owl Tree Temple sleeps two to three, with its double bed and optional extra child's bed. Couples will love the woodland cabins, each kitted out with a king size bed, heating and electric - a number of these also have ensuite facilities! The West Lexham Garden Kitchen cooks seasonal, organic food using the astonishing diversity of fresh vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs picked daily from the garden just metres away. When the Garden Kitchen Cafe is closed, a communal outdoor kitchen is in place which will include utensils, plates and cutlery, BBQ, induction hob, microwave, kettle and toaster.

Treehouses and cabins are available year round, while the bell tents are available from March to October.

Facilities and amenities

Tilia, Quercus, Owl, Ash and some cabins each have their own luxury eco ensuite. For all other properties there is the Garden Wash House with its steaming hot showers, sustainable underfloor heating and proper flushing toilets. There are also two communal fire pits onsite, free to use for guests.

Fully catered, the West Lexham Garden Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for all guests from Monday to Sunday (food is not all inclusive).

Seasonal, hyper-local, organic food is top of the menu with plenty of fresh vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs picked daily from the garden just metres away, plus ingredients from key local suppliers. Inspired by the site's own produce, there are delicious options for vegetarians and vegans. Meals are available as an extra.

There are a number of beautifully designed event spaces which will suit groups, a kitchen garden providing fresh ingredients and a lake with a chalk stream. A naturally filtered swimming pool with wild swimming open April until September.

A note from the site themselves...

We have tried to create a destination where guests can switch off and enjoy an environment that stresses how our symbiosis with nature is fundamental to life.

We are always evolving and learning as we grow. Our project is much more than an aesthetic mission to restore old buildings, we want our location to be a hive for kindred spirits with sustainability at the heart of everything we do.

Our vision is one of living and learning together in harmony. It is not so much a business, but a family home opened up for those who share our passions. A place for contemplation, appreciation and transformation for any who seek it. We want to unite a community of change-makers with dreams of a better life on this planet.

We use regenerative practices and focus on sustainable retreats that benefit your mental well-being. We hope you get a chance to visit us soon and see what we are all about, Edmund
