Relax amongst nature at Little Harford, this back-to-basics family friendly campsite is nestled away in woodlands. There are just a handful of grass pitches for tent campers only, all of which have plenty of space. Bring a torch and take your camping kit down to the hillside pitches. Plenty to do nearby with Dartmoor National Park just 15 minutes away. Dogs welcome onsite.

Rachel, our host, was lovely and helpful. Our stay was made all the more interesting by her personal knowledge of the area and the history of the site. Fascinating. I would certainly recommend the site. We only spent one night there as we were travelling on to a local folk festival.

Secluded and natural

Each pitch is cleverly positioned, so you get the feeling of seclusion and peace. There is ample space, and the woodland and babbling brook are a haven for wildlife. We heard young tawny owls calling, and a barn owl too. We would love to come back in springtime. On a practical note, there is a great Tesco superstore at nearby Crediton, and a lovely dog-friendly beach at Ness Cove. Dartmoor National Park is only a short drive away.

A great experience

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2024

Having recently stayed at this campsite, I highly recommend it to those considering camping near Exeter and/or Dartmoor National Park. The site is incredibly well-maintained, with many paths allowing for convenient access from any of the pitches to the car park/entrance. Additionally, the facilities, although basic, were clean and straightforward to use thanks to the clear instructions provided. The host was immensely welcoming and helpful, ensuring that our group enjoyed their stay and went far beyond what was expected. Exeter is around 20 minutes away, and there is an amusement park called Crealy also fairly nearby. The location is ideal for accessing different parts of the coast; my group ended up going to Boscastle for a day, which I would also recommend considering due to its stunning coastal features. The campsite was very scenic and provided good separation from the modern world with it being far enough from main roads that cars are rarely heard. Crediton is a short drive away and features a large Tesco store, multiple fuel stations, and a road leading directly to Exeter. Overall, the campsite was excellent, and I would highly recommend it.

Pleasantly surprised, overall 5 stars!

Rachel was amazing and so informative about the history of the land and buildings. Phenomenally helpful in every way. We wild camped amongst the trees, which was fantastic. We had an open fire in a fire pit. My son and I enjoyed cooking some steaks on the fire. Wished we'd stayed longer, perfection in every way. Thank you Rachel for an experience we will remember forever.

This is such a unique and lovely place - very secluded and natural. Rachel could not have been more helpful and friendly. The compost toilet was great- clean and well designed. The lanes leading to it were pretty narrow, but it was worth it for the peace and quiet on arrival! Really loved meeting Rachel and staying on her hardstanding in our van. The location was so peaceful and there were pheasants wandering about on the paths under the trees. We loved it! Back again soon.

Beautiful and peaceful campsite

My partner and I had an absolutely lovely time at Little Harford. It's a gorgeous, quiet campsite where you can really enjoy the serenity of the surroundings without other campers being on top of you. The surrounding property is also stunning and Rachel was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

A lovely, quiet site with paths through beautiful woodland, a small meadow and a pretty, meandering stream. Becca, the owner was super friendly and helpful. The compost loo was clean and you can have fires with either your own firepit (or hire one from Beccie) and you get a decent amount of firewood for £5. A haven. I recommend.
