Nestled in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, Pitch and Hike is the perfect small and peaceful campsite for walkers and cyclists. Get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and unwind. This site has grass pitches for tents tucked away in a woodland area. Walk directly from the site, snooze in a hammock, sit around the firepit to just look up at the stars, in one UK's few dark sky reserves.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2024

Had a wonderful time. Location fairly remote, but that is exactly what I wanted. Clean toilets, helpful host. Rained second night, still slept like a log.

Excellent campsite, access was great and the short walk was easier than we thought, the campsite owners were lovely and welcoming. The toilets are probably some of the nicest and cleanest in North Wales. It's a great location for Snowdonia National Park and Betws-y-Coed isn't too far away either. An excellent find for us and we will definitely be going back again!

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2024

The site was great, contact was good and clear. Greeted with information about the site, very kind and friendly, toilets were amazing, drinking water offered. Perfect for clear and quiet nights, a firepit was rented and used within the generously sized pitch. Couldn't want for more at this site, we will be visiting again.

Really lovely host, very accommodating. Pack light as it's a walk away from the car park. Extremely peaceful and beautiful site and very clean toilets! Couldn't recommend this campsite more.

Backpacker Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Oct 2023

Beautiful little spot. Three of us camped in backpacker tents for the weekend and had a great time. We had no trouble finding it, even though it was dark when we arrived. Our pitch was already marked out and the fire pit we rented was already on site with a healthy amount of logs, kindling and fire lighters. The pitch was flat and surrounded by trees, which sounded beautiful through the night as the wind swept through them. The toilets aren't far at all and extremely clean and well stocked. We experienced no noise or light pollution, and found that when the clouds cleared up it was a perfect spot for star gazing. We will definitely be staying again!

Backpacker Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Oct 2023

This site was perfect for getting away from it all, it is located in Gwdhir forest, which is incredibly beautiful. Mel the host arrived as we did, you just give her a quick ring, number on entrance gate. She checked if we would like a different pitch, supplied us with an amazing hammock, which was peaceful and sooo comfortable. If you get a clear night, there is no light pollution to see stars and if you have not slept in a hammock, it's a special experience. The climb up to the site is quite steep and has no vehicle access so be aware it is pitch and hike and you will have to carry your belongings up. We travelled with tent and backpacks and it was very manageable but it is definitely for walkers. We had a fire pit and log pack brought to us by Mel who actually could not have been more friendly or more help. The fire pit is £5 a night and small cut logs were provided around to sit on. The campsite has fresh drinking water and lovely clean toilets and sink. We bathed in streams and waterfalls and walked miles from this base including Swallow Falls, Betws-y-Coed and the unmissable fairy glen. There is a bus stop outside the campsite entrance and a café, which serves a lovely breakfast, it costs around £11 for a full English. I personally went to unwind after having a lot of work and personal pressure and could not have picked a more ideal or beautiful place. I highly recommend this campsite if you're serious about getting away from it all. We felt like we were in lord of the rings country! Delighted with our stay. Thank you Mel and Dave. Enchanting!

Lovely place to camp with a truly wild camping vibe. It has 2 clean toilets and fresh drinking water. Time has been taken to make the pitches flatter and more resistant to flooding. Only a 15-minute uphill hike to the location.

Really nice and quiet camping place. Finding it was a challenge for us despite the (quite clear) instructions, but fortunately, the hostess quickly came to help us. The facilities are all you can hope for in a secluded spot like this. Recommended!

Perfect spot for those who don't mind a short walk

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2023

Very highly recommended - lovely spot, good views, pristine toilets, friendly and responsive hosts, decent tree-filled separation from other tent sites, no noise aside from birdsong. Literally perfect. This is totally clear on the website and not at all a problem for us, but you need to know - there is no car access. Be prepared for about a 1km walk, partly uphill, from the closest possible (paid) parking if you've a car.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2023

I stayed here for one night with my partner and it was absolute luxury to lay in one of the lovely hammocks after a long day of walking! We managed to stay up late enough to sit and eat popcorn by the fire pit and watch the sun go down which was just magical as the campsite is so peaceful and quiet, it feels as though you are the only people on Earth. The toilets are spotlessly clean and Mel couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay :)

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jun 2023

We booked Pitch and Hike as a stop over site whilst remote hiking around Snowdonia. Mel had made us aware that there was no parking near the site but recommended a couple of places to leave the car, which was really useful. A very remote site in the woods with clearly marked pitching areas, including a little flag with our name on to show where we were to pitch our 2x hike tents. Instructions were very clear and was a pleasant walk up to the site. The toilets were a very pleasant surprise, the site was exceptionally clean and well cared for. And although we were a little late in arriving, Mel came to see us and check all was good. Highly recommend Pitch and Hike if you are looking for a secluded, stop over site whilst enjoying the area.
