Shepherd's Hut - Carp Shepherd's HutJun 2024

I stayed in the 'Carp' Shepherd's Hut on the edge of a large pond full of wildlife - herons, ducks, woodpeckers, wild birds and large fish. I really needed a quiet, restful break from work and this place delivered that in spades. The setting is peaceful, tranquil and very beautiful. It is set on sloping hills with wildflower meadows surrounded by woodland. There are four ponds of various sizes fed by natural springs and I was able to swim every day, which was one of the main attractions for me to book the break. The surrounding scenery is stunning and the night skies were fantastic. The Shepherd's Hut was clean, well presented and had every facility that I required for my stay, including a firepit with logs and a barbeque. They provided complimentary eggs, milk and fresh orange juice along with tea and coffee and in addition, warm croissants and rolls were brought to the hut in the morning of my first day. There is a log burner in the hut, however, as the temperature was 28 degrees, I didn't need to use it on this visit. The bed was roomy, even for me at 6 foot tall, super comfortable and with plenty of pillows. The owners, Mark and Geraldine, were welcoming, friendly, helpful and accommodating. They have put considerable thought into every detail of the site, even down to the consistent colour scheme of the huts and private showers. You can purchase burgers, sausages and eggs etc from them, along with extra logs for the fire and charcoal for the BBQ. And for anything else, Crowborough is only a few minutes drive away. I had booked a two night stay but loved being there so much, I was able to add another night and would have stayed longer if I could. I will definitely be staying there again. It captured my heart and invigorated my spirit.

A gem of a place

Shepherd's Hut - Carp Shepherd's HutJun 2024

What a find! If you are looking for peace and relaxation and a break from busy life, then look no further. We stayed in the Carp Hut, a cute shepherd's hut with decking and balcony overlooking a beautiful pond. The hut itself was clean warm, very well equipped with all you would need. The owners Mark and Geraldine were lovely and have thought of absolutely everything. The fridge had a welcome gift of eggs, milk, orange juice and butter which was much appreciated. The bed was so comfy. It had a toilet attached and a really nice shower unit and toilet for our own personal use in another shepherd's hut a short walk away. We spent a ridiculous amount of time just watching the woodpeckers and birds at the feeders. Made great friends with the ducks and so pleased to see the heron catch a fish. The pond was teaming with carp and other fish so I'm sure fishermen will love it here. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and really well thought out. They haven't over commercialised it so we hardly saw a soul which was a lovely change from town life. We loved it so much we asked if we could stay another night. It rejuvenated us, and we will be back!

Amazing!

Shepherd's Hut - Carp Shepherd's HutMay 2024

Came here for our anniversary trip. We had a fantastic time. The hut is cozy and fantastically equipped - Wi-Fi, breakfast ingredients, even a Bluetooth speaker and board games! The grounds are stunning, well kept with beautiful animals and biodiversity all around. Everyone was very kind, welcoming, and helpful. Private bathrooms really nice. Our every need and want was covered with kindness and sincerity, we had a beautiful stay and will be back! Thank you so much for having us :)
