Scotland and golf go hand in hand, and you won't be disappointed with Kintyre's great courses - there's plenty to choose from. But if you don't find striding the greens burns enough calories, the Kintyre Way is a great hike. It's divided into eight manageable sections so there's no need to bite off more than you can chew.

Meanwhile, off the coastline, you'll find a host of wildlife and boat trips that can get you up close. Come and meet the leaping dophins, friendly seals and sea otters.

If the waves are looking good, why not try some surfing? There are instructors and supplies on hand for private or group lessons.

Famous for Whisky - the Springbank Distillery is always a popular treat. Don't fancy a dram? then fear not the new Kintyre Gin Distillery is an award winning visitor attraction.

Gigha - God's island - take a stroll down the beach and hop on the hourly ferry to enjoy the magic of Gigha - hotel and the famous Boathouse beach cafe/restaurant. Caribbean like waters and sandy bays.

Tarbert - the best for fresh seafood - bbq back at base for the perfect end to the day.
