Higher Chapel Farm is a pop up campsite within a few minutes walk of the Tamar River, set on a working cow and sheep farm. It's a hidden away camping spot, yet only half an hour from the coast. Bring your kayak or paddle board along and launch at Halton Quay and paddle to the National Trust Cotehele, stopping off to enjoy an ice cream. Grass pitches for camping, and a small number of tourers.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesSep 2023

It's all good with beautiful grassland and riverside view by walking within 15 minutes. We enjoyed a very happy night in the site. I hope there will be a kitchen facility for washing dishes and food. Highly recommend and will be back for sure.

Pretty, quiet and relaxing

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2023

Pop up site on a farm. Lovely location. So quiet and views were great. There was a toilet but we are self contained. Friendly owners and gorgeous friendly dog. We wanted basic and fairly remote. A few minutes from local pub but didn't use. Near National Trust Cothele which is worth visiting.

Lovely owners

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2023

We stayed in the grass field with our awning tent. The field is spacious and the plots are a good size and flat. We camped on the ground sheet without any mattress and the ground / grass was soft and padded and we got a good nights sleep in the terrible weather of the summer of '23! The owners didn't mind us arriving quite late, and were quick to respond to my messages. The campsite is accessed through the working farm and we got a warm wave from the tractor driver, and the farm dog came to welcome us, which my kids really liked. The cows and sheep are in the next field and we're watching as we set up camp, again the kids loved saying hi to them. We receive a warm welcome from the owner, who also runs the B&B and the cool clamping pod and looking the home made breakfast. Toilet and washing facilities are simple, practical and clean and everything you need for a few nights stay. Water tap is available too. The farm is right on the river and it's a very pretty drive to the accommodation. If you have children and are ok with limited facilities (as you would expect for a pop up camp site), this place is perfect for a few nights stay.

Perfect escape

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2022

A complete getaway for me and my pup on his first camping trip and my first solo camp. Beautiful location in a lovely large field where you can choose where to pitch. Jean and Willow greeted me when I arrived and was really friendly, I felt I could have knocked on the door at any time. I felt really safe and I left feeling completely recharged after only one night. Facilities are very basic but clean. There is a drinking water pipe, 2x toilet and sinks and a single shower block for a tepid shower but adds to the fun and adventure. We pottered a few hundred meters down to the estuary for a swim...mostly silt but a good giggle and lots of birds to watch. Used my raised firepit for supper and there are spares and chairs to borrow and wood to buy. NT nearby is lovely and does a good breakfast. Everything you need for a back to nature getaway.

Brilliant site
