A note from the site themselves...

We welcome guests to enjoy the stunning views with us. I love seeing guests' reactions to the breathtaking panoramic views out over the Tamar Valley, Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor, over the River Tamar and out to the Sea at Plymouth Sound and beyond and sharing my little bit of paradise with others!

Having farmed here for 24 years the site will return to regular fields after you leave. Now run with our youngest son Beau who had his first cut of hay this year, you may see him arrive on a vintage Tractor and if you want a chat he will chew your ear off about vintage tractors and all things Cornish.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

We have a gorgeous few days camping at Summit Camping. Waking up to those views was something else! The campsite was extremely quiet and spacious enough to feel you had plenty of privacy. We took our dog with us and she loved it. We lit the fire pit on a couple of evenings which was fun and super cosy. The shower was great, lovely and hot with good pressure. The toilets were a bit manky when we first got there but were renewed the second day and then were fine after that. Tracy, who runs the site, was really friendly and gave the kids bubbles, which they had lots of fun with. There was a welcome pack for us with info on things to do locally and Tracy gave us info on Callington where there are pubs, take away food and a mini brewery which we didn't have time to try sadly. We climbed Kit Hill which was lovely and a fun, easy walk for the kids and dog. The 360 views from the top were stunning. We also walked to the quarry twice and the kids swam. It was so beautiful with water lilies bursting out under the trees. There is an area of rocks that the kids could climb. They wanted to stay for hours. We drove to Looe and had the best Fish & Chips we've ever had at "Catch"! We visited Tavistock and had lunch at The Cornish Arms which we'd seen on James Martin's Saturday Kitchen. It wasn't quite what we'd expected but the food was excellent, although very expensive. All in all we had a fantastic long weekend and didn't want to leave but all good things must come to an end eventually. Thank you Summit Camping (Tracy) - we will be back!!

Site's response

Thank you for booking Summit and for your review, Helen. It was lovely to meet you all and I am so glad that you enjoyed it. The views are excellent and so glad the children loved the quarry lake and Kit Hill. Apologies for the loos, (very unfortunate) a lady had decided to put bleach down them all, a nightmare as it counteracted all the chemicals which are used in the portaloos and caused a reaction. We were able to get them all emptied and chemicals replaced the next day and as you know, I am up and down cleaning them twice a day, so we hope no one does that again (very expensive, for us) as well.

Great, great, great!
