Whatever the season, Cheshire's delightful countryside provides an ideal refuge from the pressures of everyday life.

The Whitegate Way gives miles of access through the Cheshire countryside for walkers, cyclists and horse riders away from traffic. Acorns is situated in the middle of its 6 mile length.

The line finally closed in 1966 and today you can enjoy a picnic at Whitegate Station, the only station along the way.

The story of Culture and Heritage in Chester and Cheshire has been a long and eventful one. It's a tale told in many local museums such as the Salt Museum in Northwich, where you can discover why the county is built on salt and about life on Cheshire waterways. The Anderton Boat Lift was restored to working condition and is worth a visit to appreciate the engineering.

For family fun, Chester Zoo is the ideal destination.
