Nestled in the heart of the Weardale AONB by the River Wear is Pennine Lodge, a small campsite offering just four grass pitches with electric hook up. Both family friendly and dog friendly, it's a great base for meandering walks and exploring the North Pennines. The site is a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificate Site and is reserved for members only.

About Pennine Lodge

You'll find this tranquil campsite tucked away down a private lane in Weardale, a unique landscape with dotted with peaceful moors, fell hikes, river walks and plenty of history to discover. The site is set on the banks of the River Wear and spread across 16 acres of land, plenty of space you, your loved ones and even the dog to unwind in. As a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificate Site, it offers just four grass pitches with electric hook up for members only. Spend your stay walking the expansive grounds, fishing in the river, or even going on organised treks with the resident alpacas. If you're after some culture, the cobbled streets of Alston are 20 minutes away and Bishop Auckland is 45 minutes away, a little further afield. Well behaved dogs are welcome but should be kept on a lead when onsite. No campfires, sorry!

Open from 1 April to 31 October
