About West Wood Glamping

Set on a working farm, enjoy an escape to the rural countryside just 20 minutes from the bustling city of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Boasting views over the Derwent Valley and the farmer's fields you can spend your days watching life on the farm, from harvests to lambing. Offering a unique experience set in the beautiful Gibsite National Trust you can enjoy exclusive access even when the park is closed. A short twenty-minute walk through the woodland trails will bring you out in the heart of the grounds with the visitors centre and The Market Square, Home to two cosy pods, appropriately named Oak and Elm, sleeping four with a cosy double bed and a king-sized sofa bed. Perfect all year round with a TV to cosy around on winter days or admire the views with alfresco dining in warmer months. Of course, you'll have your own hot tub! There is also a traditional shepherd's hut, ideal for two with a comfortable double bed. You can also enjoy your own hot tub here too and a small seating area outside to soak up the views. Each accommodation has a well-equipped kitchen area for you to cook up a storm! Including all the essential appliances and utensils as well as crockery and cutlery, it will feel like a home away from home. Fire pits are supplied with each unit and are highly recommended! One dog is welcome in the shepherd's hut but do keep in mind you are located on a working farm so they should be kept on leads.

The Woodmans Arms is a family run pub with a lovely beer garden just over a mile away. For your essentials, you can find a Tesco Express ten minutes from the site.

Traditional shepherd's hut with a double bed, seating area and a log-burning stove. Kitchenette includes a gas stove, microwave and fridge. Alfresco dining area with an outdoor fire pit and hot tub. One dog is welcome. Private shower and toilet nearby.

Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed to stay at West Wood Glamping. The site is located on a working farm with sheep and cattle with the site's own dogs.

Yes! Open fires are only welcome in raised fire pits. Barbecues must also be raised off the ground too.

The site does allow group bookings. However, the Hot Tub Hill area is a quiet site, and the site asks that noise be kept to a minimum.

The local store is only a 5 minute drive away and after approximately 1.5 miles along the same road, there is a large Co-Op.


Being located in Gibside National Trust there is plenty to do close by. You can enjoy exclusive 24/7 access and make the most of the woodland trails. During the day explore the wildlife, amazing buildings, playparks and so much more with events taking place throughout the year.

Newcastle Upon Tyne is not too far away! 20 minutes in the car will take you to this bustling and popular city. Wander along the River Tyne before heading to Newcastle Castle or one of the many museums and galleries.
