A note from the site themselves...

As a family we have been managing this 600 acre farm since around 1950. In 2021 myself, my sister Pippa and parents George and Amanda set up Coppet Hill Camping and Glamping alongside our regenerative farming practices, to enable natures lovers to come and stay and explore this fantastic corner of West Dorset.

We have been overwhelmed with the positive reaction from families and are excited to continue to offer this unique, peaceful camping experience. With only 14 camping pitches, our campers love the fact that it always seems quiet, even when full.

We love to share our wildlife knowledge with our guests and will run Moth Clubs and Owl Prowls around the farm. We also have several miles of nature walks through the farm which take you to the top of Coppet Hill with fantastic views of Lyme Regis.

Giving our guests the chance to experience this space and tranquillity is what we love to do and work hard to help families create those very special memories.

Ellen, Pippa, George and Amanda

Large Tent - Sunflower Non Electric Grass Pitch with Private ToiletAug 2024

Our pitch was lovely with a great view. The shower and loo were clean and worked fine. The one reason why we would think twice before returning is the distance from car park, washing up area and store to our pitch. If we'd realised it was a long bumpy and exhausting trek with heavy stuff in a wheel barrow or cart, we would have picked a different pitch. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Site's response

Hi Nikki, many thanks for your review. We do pride ourselves in offering guests lots of space, unfortunately this does mean that some of the pitches are further from the facilities than others - Sunflower being one of the furthest ones away. We will try to make this clearer on the description. Despite this, we do hope that you enjoyed the stay and perhaps come again to one of the closer pitches, such as Blackcap or Bullfinch.

Yes! Campfires and BBQs are allowed at Coppet Hill. However, open fires are only allowed in fire pits, and BBQs must be raised off the ground.

There is a basic honesty shop in the barn. During the summer months, a tea shop is open too. You'll find a Waitrose and Morrisons a 15-minute drive away in Skilling.

Sorry, the site does not accept any of these extras. However, the site does allow camping guests to add an extra tent to their booking.

Yes, you can find the site map here.

During the busy summer months, the site run moth clubs for the guests on site. This has been a huge attraction, and one year they were able to identify over 200 different types of moth. There are also three pairs of barn owls on the farm and guests can be taken on guided 'owl prowls' where you might be lucky enough to see one.

Over four miles of walks are signposted on the farm as well as several walks to local pubs and a good three mile hike to the sea. If you however fancied driving instead, it is 15 minutes to both Seatown and Charmouth beaches, great for a day on the sand.

  • National Trust Golden Cap (10 minutes)
  • Tunnel Tree Tops Charmouth (15 minutes)
  • Donkey Walking Adventures (20 minutes)
  • Dinosaurland Fossil Museum (20 minutes)
