Where to start? We were only there for 2 nights. We stayed in the Oak Hut and were blown away by the high standard of this beautiful little hut, set in a stunning forest, which you could explore at your leisure. Everything was just perfect. From the beautiful surroundings, to the little touches inside the hut. A lot of care and attention has gone into the hut. Everything we needed for a perfect stay was there. We did worry that we wouldn't have any cooking facilities and somewhere to store cold items, but we needn't have, as there was a small plug in hob, saucepans and frying pan, cooking utensils and a small fridge, all stored neatly away in a cupboard. There was also a dinner service, cups, teapot and coffee pot. Towels were also provided. There was 2 packs of biscuits and 2 chocolates, which was a lovely touch. Everything was spotless and of a very high standard. The outside was, again, absolutely perfect. A picnic bench, a firepit, a BBQ and coals all there if you wanted a bit of outside cooking (weather permitting, of course) logs were in abundance for the log burner and the firepit. We did use the log burner the first day we were there, but to be honest, we didn't need to as there was an electric heater there which would have been enough. It was just so cosy to have, as the weather was quite miserable. We phoned John on arrival just to see where we had to go, he was very friendly and polite, and wished us a happy stay. Well John, we certainly did, so much so that we were extremely sad to leave. We are definitely going to go back in the spring or summer so that hopefully we can enjoy the outside surroundings more. We highly recommend this little piece of heaven. No Wi-Fi, no television, just a radio and a good book.

If you want to stay in the middle of nowhere with nature but still have all the facilities you need - this is the place. Would definitely recommend. Good service from owner too with directions and information.

Wow! Oak hut is just blissful. My goal was to get away to de-stress and unwind and this place definitely delivered on both counts, in fact it exceeded my expectations. Set amongst woodland with just the sound of bird song to be heard. The Oak hut was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. All facilities needed were catered for, kitchen utensils, cutlery, towels. The bed was amazingly comfortable and I slept so well every night. Wood burner and an electric heater were in the hut, which is great if it became a little chilly. Fire pit, BBQ and seating outside too, with deck chairs for more relaxed seating outside (perfect for a snooze in between reading a good book). Woodland walk and signposting to get to the stream which was lovely. Peaceful, tranquil and remote, but within a very short drive to pretty Lyme Regis (definitely worth a visit). If you need to chill out and recharge your batteries, this is the perfect place to do so. I'd highly recommend Stubbs Bridge Woodland, it's just superb and I'll be sure to go back. A huge thank you to the hosts who have created a little bit of heaven.

Really lovely get away. Set in a private wood. The Shepard's hut was well equipped for a comfortable stay. Nice place to be to really get away from everything if you chose to, but if you wanted a bit more life then the lovely Lyme Regis is only 15mins away.

The hut was carefully laid out to make the most of the limited space but could do with some shelving under the sink to keep the kitchen equipment neat and tidy. It was nice that some fresh milk and cider was left in the fridge as well as coffee and sugar on the shelf. There was some traffic noise which was a shame, because otherwise you could have been miles from humanity. Due to the constraints of space the bathroom was a bit snug, my husband struggled to use the shower without constantly turning the water flow off. It was ok for a couple of nights but would have been irritating after a week. The wood burner was amazing and kept the hut toasty warm despite it's diminutive size. Overall the hut looked beautiful, the bed was comfy, the facilities of a good standard and we enjoyed our stay despite the rain.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights on Bank Holiday weekend, what a retreat.....was absolutely amazing. So peaceful tranquil and the views were so beautiful. The location was 3 miles from Lyme Regis so we drove into Lyme Regis and got the park and ride bus down into the town. The shepherd's hut was very clean, had everything you needed, lots of little touches. Had a bbq, fire pit, all wood was included, had table and chairs and deck chairs to relax in. Was a truly relaxing weekend away with the added bonus of beautiful weather. Was great to have our breakfast cooked on the bbq and hear the wildlife. We were in a forest all by ourselves but not far from the seaside either, great location. Fabulous instructions on how to get to the shepherd's hut, couldn't fault anything. Everything you could possibly need was there, definitely a destination to stay at, will be returning very shortly.

We had a wonderfully quiet midweek break for our 20th anniversary - the location was better than expected, all items you would need were provided and the woodland walks were lovely. Both of us have busy and sometimes stressful jobs so the peace and quiet was exactly as we wanted and required. We never needed to contact the owners as thoughtful postcards notes and information packs were provided and most things are fairly obvious to easily work out. It is a wonderful part of the country and, while remote in the hills, it is only a very short drive to the local towns and beaches. We would definitely recommend to any couple looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway.

My adult daughter and I have just returned from a wonderful 2 night break in the Shepherds Hut. It is in an idyllic, secluded location, beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and has everything you could possibly need, including a cosy wood burner (wood supplied). Everything in there, from the crisp cotton bedsheets to the cutlery was high quality. It is hidden down a track and has lovely countryside views. The outdoor space had tables and chairs, a fire pit and a barbecue and our dog loved running around (on a long lead). You definitely need a car to explore the area but it's only a short drive from Lyme Regis and Charmouth. It would be ideal for a romantic break - I hope to return next year for this ๐
