About Wray Valley Camping
This tent-only site is set in the beautiful Wray Valley within the Dartmoor National Park, midway between the picturesque village of Lustleigh and Moretonhampstead. There is direct access to the Wray Valley Trail via a small footbridge. The Hay Meadow camping field slopes down from the car park to the river. Camping in the Hay Meadow is on terraced pitches separated from each other by wide biodiversity corridors. Camping on the nearly wild pitches is on a flat area in the woodland with the river nearby. The site is also situated on the Dartmoor Way cycle route and is a frequent stop for those attempting Lands End to John O'Groats by bike. Wonderfully located in the middle of Devon, you can enjoy access to the A38 and the A30, great for exploring the whole county. Campfires and BBQs are encouraged and wood-fired pizza evenings are run on dry days in the summer. Due to the sloping nature of the site, motorised vehicles on the pitches are not allowed. Dogs are permitted but must be kept under control at all times so as not to disturb the wildlife, the chickens, and other campers.
Open all year round for members of the Nearly Wild Camping Club and organisations with their own camping exemption certificates, e.g. Scouts. The Hay Meadow is open between April and October.
