Long Beach Campsite offers spectacular views out over Inverie Bay to the Isle of Rum. All the benefits of wild camping with some added luxuries. With a coastline to die for, unmissable wild surroundings, campfires and just a short walk to the local community shop, village tea room, pub and restaurant when you fancy getting back to civilisation.

About Long Beach Campsite Knoydart

This is a low-key and relaxed site run by the Knoydart Foundation. Featuring one of the top views in Scotland! You'll stay right on the beach, with mountains on three sides and a picture perfect view out over Inverie Bay with the Isle of Rum on the horizon. Hailed as Britain's last great wilderness, Knoydart is a place to truly escape and get away from it all. The site is multi use with campers mingling alongside non camping visitors and local residents, all enjoying the stunning landscape. Settle down at a wild camping spot, light a fire and take it all in.

Facilities and amenities

On site there is a state of the art, turf roof compost toilet, a UV filtered drinking water tap and a lovely cabin shelter that provides protection from the elements. You'll also find fire pits, firewood is included in the cost. There are no showers on site.

There is the Shop (for supplies, community owned), Tea room, Pub and Restaurant.

Please show respect for other campers. Long Beach is a public space that is used by residents, visitors and campers. Social events may take place during your stay, feel free to join in :)


The ranger service run Knoydart Carbon Cycle Hire, which offers Specialized Hardrock mountain bikes. These are perfect for discovering the peninsula's 9 miles of public road, 17,000 acres of community owned open hill and two specially constructed mountain bike tracks in Inverie.

The service also sell a total of nine walking leaflet guides, covering all the major walking routes, both walks into Knoydart and the three local Munros. What better excuse could you need, to get your itchy feet going?

Fancy a guide? There are official public guided walks and Land Rover tours on foundation land throughout the season.

Whatever you're doing, you're bound to come across fantastic wildlife spotting opportunities and there are two wildlife hides at the east and west end of Long Beach. You're likely to meet the resident raptors including golden eagles, sea eagles, buzzards, peregrine falcons, merlins and sparrow hawks.

A big favourite with visitors, seals can be spotted along the Knoydart coastline and basking shark and minke whales are often seen at the entrance to Loch Nevis.

Visitors are welcome to sea fish around Knoydart's coastline or on the foundation owned Glaschoille Loch (brown trout), and there is no charge for this.

During the season Wilder Ways, a local horse riding school, offer a satellite pony trekking service from Knoydart, which is an incredible experience for riders of any level.
