About Langley Dam Glamping
Whether you are a family with young children, a young couple wanting a romantic break or an older couple looking for a base to explore the historic sites and fabulous scenery of the North, Langley Dam Glamping is the place for you.
Your setting is on the side of Langley Dam overlooking the popular local fly fishery. Around you will be mature trees on a working mixed farm. Just on the edge of the North Pennines, the best section of Hadrian's Wall is only 5 miles north of the glamping site.
The pod cabins have been designed and built inspired by the local upturned clinker boats found along the Northumbrian Coast. They offer a touch of luxury while still being in close contact with the great outdoors. A private decked area is provided outside each cabin, as well as a gravelled fire pit area.
Fire pits include grills, tripods and cooking bowls and are provided for all - allowing you to cook over an open fire and then enjoy the evening with the glorious views and amazing dark skies.
When you're peckish, the kitchenette is well equipped with fridge, double hob and oven with a grill. A toaster and kettle are also provided.
There is a smart TV with a DVD player in all cabins too, so that you can unwind and watch a movie. Heating is provided by means of an electric heater. Sockets and USB charging points are available in all cabins, and there are bluetooth speakers too.
Your night time comfort is ensured by providing proper mattresses on all the fixed king size beds. The sofa beds are also king-size and have luxury mattresses. In three of the cabins (Wheatley's, Blackcleugh and Bare Bones) there is also a drop down bunk which is suitable for younger children. Quality bedding and towels are provided with the fully furnished rental option.
Humbleton has been designed to allow full disabled access. Well behaved dogs are welcome but there are strictly pet free pod cabins for allergy sufferers too - The Wonneys and Bare Bones. Wheatley's Cabin is closest to the play area, and so may suit families with little ones best.
Eco-commitments are very important to this site - and only eco-friendly cleaning products are used to service and maintain the cabins and laundry.
Langley Dam Glamping is open all year round in 2024 and 2025.
Facilities and amenities
All pods are ensuite with a well equipped kitchenette and a toilet / shower room inside. Fishing is available onsite for an additional fee and horse riding is a short way from site. There is free WiFi in all cabins. A play area is provided on site for kids aged 3-12 which offers a slide, cargo net, balance beams and all the fun of a raised boat platform and a small boat to play.
The Carts Bog Inn is a 15 - 20 minute walk from site.
We are incredibly lucky to be living in such a beautiful part of Northumberland, and are so pleased to be able to share that with our guests. Langley Dam has such and interesting history and connections with the industrial heritage of the Tyne Valley, and is now a stunning, tranquil place to be.
We are always so privelaged to be able to observe our amazing wildlife on our doorstep - otters, owls, many species of birds and waterfowl can all been seen at times from the comfort of the glamping pods decking! Even after years of living here it still thrills us every time!
We have tried to create a site that fits with the natural landscape and embraces local skills, with minimal carbon impact - and we are so proud that we think we have nearly achieved that - this year we are installing a solar panel array on the farm shed roof, and hope to be virtually 'off grid' by the summer.
We hope that everyone who comes to stay with us enjoys our wonderful home as much as we do!

Glamping Pod - The Wonneys Ensuite Glamping Pod Cabin Dec 2024
An ideal location for a peaceful short break. There were plenty of walks nearby and it was not a crowded site. We were there during Storm Darragh, so weather was not good but it didn't take anything away from the overall experience.
The site is well maintained and the pods are well equipped. I will definitely return in better weather and highly recommend.
Site's response
So glad you managed to survive the storm and still have a good time during your stay. Look forward to seeing you again in the spring/summer. Thanks for the lovely review.π
Lovely place right on a lake

Camping Pod - The Wheatley's Ensuite Glamping Pod Cabin (Dog Friendly)Oct 2024
A brilliant glamping place with wonderful views and a beautiful lake!
The cabins are very well fitted out and although they are small they are super comfortable. All the appliances worked, but the underfloor heating programmer is hard to use so we had one slightly cold night.
The site is as described but also has an EV charger and a cafe next door (at weekends).
One thing to note is that the cabins are quite close to each other and it doesn't look so close in the booking page, so just something to bear in mind over very busy periods. (think typical campsite distance between the cabins). This was not a problem as we had the place to ourselves.
Site's response
So pleased you had a good time and enjoyed our wonderful views.
Sorry you struggled with the thermostat for the heating, the system requires no reprogramming, we can also control it remotely (if guests do not reset itπ¬), so we could have sorted any issues for you if requested. The underfloor systems are quite new and I will be updating the cabin booklets with appropriate instructions over the winter, to avoid any future confusion.
You are correct that the cabins are fairly close within their 2 groups of 3, we were restricted by planning and public footpaths when we put them in. We have tried to ensure each has a private outdoor area that doesn't get overlooked by others, and positioning the cabins carefully. The majority of our guests agree that despite the closeness, they don't feel crowded or overlooked even when we are busy. It helps that we only have 6 of them, there's never that many people staying with us!
Thank you so much for the feedback, it's always really appreciated.

Camping Pod - Blackcleugh Ensuite Glamping Pod Cabin (Dog Friendly)Sep 2024
Every now and then, I take myself away for a couple of nights to get away from the daily routine and spend time out in the countryside. This time I chose a Langley Dam Pod as I decided to take my Norwegian Elkhound pup, Elsa, for company.
I stayed in Blackcleugh Pod which was closest to the lake, had a lovely view and easy access to the path that took you on a lovely short walk around it. It is close to the kids play area so may be noisy if there are children staying, but perfect if they are yours!
The Pod was spotless, had everything you needed - I paid extra for the upgrade which included bedding/towels/kitchen equipment. Worth noting that the master bed is in an alcove and not easy to make yourself if limited mobility! The pod housekeeper must be an expert at this! The only thing I didn't take but could be useful was a measuring jug.
It was spacious pod, a very comfortable bed and cosy even when it was raining and chilly. There were maps, binoculars, a torch and other handy items to use. We were fortunate to watch a beautiful sunrise and sunset as we walked around the dam, which we did at least twice each day as it is a nice, gentle walk with benches here and there to use if available.
I am not into angling but I imagine if you are, this would be a wonderful place to enjoy spending time enjoying it. Unfortunately, the pub and lodge cafe were closed midweek being out of season so we didn't get to enjoy that, instead we sat and enjoyed soup and cake on the decking.
I didn't use the fire area unfortunately due to the weather and having Elsa with me, but the fire pack that is available at an extra cost of Β£10 had everything you needed.
Great communication with Jo, who was very helpful. I have already recommended Langley Dam to an angling friend of mine.
Site's response
Thank you so much for your detailed review Gail. Really glad you enjoyed the space and surroundings.
Hopefully, if you return, the weather will be better! I can certainly add a small measuring jug to the kitchen inventory too! Many thanks for the feedback.
