Lovely welcome and good communication with the host. I felt safe as a solo female. Facilities are basic but were fine for me. Nice flat pitches and lovely trees. It’s by a busy road but that quietened down by bedtime. Quirky pub up the road called The Old Station that’s worth a look. I would stay here again.

We were looking for a campsite that was close enough to visit our son in Bristol for convenience, yet far enough away to feel like a country escape weekend away… (to Cheddar Gorge) and this was our answer. We wanted a place where we could enjoy the camping in nature without sacrificing the basics, and this spot delivered. Our roof tent stay was made all the more enjoyable by the clean toilet, functional shower, and the chance to gather around a roaring fire pit at the end of the day. Plus, our big Tibetan Mastiff was welcomed, and had plenty of space to relax. Hector, the owner, really did go above and beyond to make us feel welcome. His commitment to sustainability and ethical practices shines through in every aspect of the campsite. If you're seeking a greener, friendly-dog-friendly getaway, with a touch of wild beauty, Hector's Haven is the perfect choice.

We stayed for two nights at the end of August. We received a text from Hector with some instructions and important info the morning of the check-in which was very helpful. He greeted us upon pulling into the driveway and was warm and friendly. The campsite is small and when we arrived was nearly empty so we got a pick of the pitches. The site is beautiful and whilst the grass was well cut, still felt a little 'wild' and like you're in the middle of nowhere. The faciilities were very clean and the shower hot. Hector even offered us use of his electric airbed pump as he could see us struggling. Hector was very attentive and clearly cares a lot about his customers' experience. We payed for firewood upon booking, and also asked for more on the second evening, which was waiting for us when we got back to site - there were even some marshmallows waiting for us! There is a stream that runs right behind the field but fortunately, the mosquitoes did not bother us at all - having the fire on both nights probably helped. The campsite is basic at present, but Hector is clearly working hard to improve things as he has only just taken over. It was perfect for what we needed and wanted. It should be noted that the campsite is right on the A37 which is a busy arterial and has plenty of traffic right through the night. If you are a light sleeper, consider ear-plugs. There are also cows and sheep along the fencelines which were vocal but not past sunset fortunately. If you're lucky, you might just get awoken by the owls, which as Londoners, we thought was brilliant! This is a great location for good access to Wells, Bristol and Bath. A car is a must, although there were some guys on a cycling tour that stayed the night! Thank you, Hector.
