Ryeford Ponds is a peaceful, small-scale campsite, ten minutes outside of Ross-on-Wye. There are only two almost wild camping pitches and two furnished bell tents, great for families, plus a well equipped shepherd's hut ideal for a couples' getaways. Immerse yourself in nature with dark skies at night, campfires, wildlife ponds, relaxing hammocks away from the crowds! A perfect rural retreat to explore the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley!

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesSep 2024

Beautiful campsite, loved pitching up right next to the pond! Such a lovely serene spot tucked away, lots of privacy and amazing wildlife. I woke up to see a kingfisher sitting on a post on the pond ! Facilities were great, everything we needed was there, very close drive to everything you need. Would love to come back.

Wonderful stay!

Bell Tent - Bell TentsAug 2024

We had a wonderful weekend at Ryeford Ponds. It is the most beautiful location and so much thought has gone into making visitors feel welcome and comfortable. The private bathroom, communal kitchen, BBQs available to use and woodland adventures for children gave a real feel of luxury glamping and the bell tent was a home from home. I would thoroughly recommend a stay and we will definitely be back.

Bell Tent - Bell TentsAug 2024

Fabulous site, tranquil but also great for kids to enjoy with plenty around the site for them to play with. The ponds are beautiful and the little attentions to detail just the icing on the cake - speaking of which, the homemade cake on arrival was delicious and very well received! I normally am not overly bothered about leaving places but I was genuinely gutted to leave Ryeford Ponds - needless to say we will be back!!

Bell Tent - Bell TentsJul 2024

This is a beautiful and peaceful woodland campsite where my son could explore and play in nature while I indulged myself in campfires in the wilderness. Absolutely wonderful - thank you!

Site's response

Hi Chris, it was lovely meeting you and your son. It was so lovely to see how much spontaneous play and fun you both had! It was great hearing your stories of adventure on site and while exploring Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. It was precious to me to know you had a great time together and that you enjoyed our offering at the campsite. We try very hard to make sure everyone has good time and all is as expected or better! Have a good rest of the Summer. - Aldona

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesSep 2023

A hidden gem! Wonderful, quaint valley, not crowded. Lovely pitch next to a beautiful pond. The owners were so friendly and accommodating. The wash hut was nice and clean and not too far. Ryeford itself as an area is a peaceful place and plenty of wildlife to be seen in the early hours. The Forest of Dean sculpture trail is not too far. Highly recommended.

Site's response

Aaahh, :-) thank you so much for your lovely words and review, Devyani. We're so glad you had a good break with us and everything for you was in order. So good to hear. Thanks for taking time to leave feedback, we all learn from it and having read such positive comment makes our work really worthwhile. Indeed our valley is filled with wildlife, if you sit quiet and still for a bit, and we are only a short, pleasant drive away from the Forest of Dean and all its gems. Pleased to hear you enjoyed the sculpture trail - perfect any time of year and Autumn is our favourite time to visit. Thanks again, Aldona.
