About Abbots Reading Farm Octolodges
Glamping lodges are offered on a family-run, working farm in the picturesque Rusland Valley. The site is between Newby Bridge and Ulverston in the South Lakes. Nestled in a beautiful, peaceful countryside location which is rich in a variety of birds and wildlife, there's a chance to truly get away from it all in the Lakes. The farm has a herd of pedigree cattle, a fold of Highland cows, a flock of Herdwick sheep and free range hens all of which will delight children. There are six, spacious octolodges which are well insulated so they are warm and cosy. The lodges are in varying sizes to suit different group sizes, but all have memory foam mattresses, a fridge, kettle, microwave, TV and a heater and the larger octolodges have a pull out table. A decked balcony outside allows you to sit back and watch the local wildlife or take in spectacular views across to the Coniston mountains, especially at sunset. If you'd like to bring a BBQ or camping stove for roasting marshmallows, there's a space provided beside the lodge for outdoor cooking. The heated toilet and shower facilities are less than a minutes walk away from the octolodges. Next to the octolodges is a large undercover barn area which is incredibly useful if the weather is wet, as there is a communal BBQ area, picnic tables, washing up area and laundry to keep busy with until the sun returns. There is also table tennis and table football in the barn too and a small football pitch with toddler climbing frame outside, to keep children well entertained.
The site is open from Easter until mid October.
