Get back to nature at Setthorns Campsite, nestled in a secluded location in the New Forest National Park. Tucked away in the forest, guests can enjoy wildlife spotting and easy access to a network of walking and cycling routes. There are no onsite facilities, with a selection of grass and hardstanding pitches to choose from, as long as you have your own chemical toilet. The beach and Beaulieu are also within a 15 minute drive.

About Setthorns Campsite
Guests are invited to get back to basics in this peaceful, secluded setting, with lots of wildlife also taking advantage of the site's quiet atmosphere. Campers are often treated to visits by free roaming deer that wander among the grand oak and pine woodland of the forest. There are a total of 135 pitches onsite, sheltered by the shade of ancient trees. There are a selection of 8m x 5m grass and hardstanding pitches with the option of a 16 amp electic hook up, along with larger 10.5m x 7.25m XL electric hardstanding pitches. For those wanting to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining, opt for one of the 38 select electric hardstanding pitches that come with the benefit of their own picnic bench. These pitches measure 9m x 5m. All of the grass pitches welcome both tents and tourers, whilst the hardstanding pitches allow just caravans, campervans, RVs and motorhomes. Up to six guests are permitted per pitch, with plenty of space for everyone to spread out. There are also pitches available for seasonal use. Evenings can also be spent cooking up dinner on a charcoal or gas BBQ, as long as it is raised from the ground. Disposable BBQs and fire pits are prohibited. Four-legged friends can also join you for your stay, with up to three permitted per pitch. Please note, there are no toilets or showers onsite so all guests must have access to their own chemical toilet.
Setthorns Campsite is open all year round in 2024 and 2025.
There are no toilets or showers onsite. A chemical toilet is required when staying here, with a chemical toilet disposal point and drinking water taps available.
There are many pubs within a five minute drive including the Hare and Hounds, The Silver Hind and The New Wheel Inn. A Co-op is also a five minute drive away for picking up any essentials.

We arrived after check in closed due to rubbish traffic on the M3 and M27. The site staff called to ask what time we expected to arrive, and then left instructions in a box. The site is quite noisy during the day being next to a footpath which is well used by dog walkers and horse riders, so not really peace and quiet, but from 10pm to 7:30am, the gates locked and a curfew ensured there were no disturbances from late arrivals while we tried, not very successfully, to sleep - heavy rain and strong winds in the trees all night - can't really blame the site for that :) In an area that goes to great lengths to discourage any overnight park ups anywhere, Setthorns provides a useful option as a base to explore the locality.

Things to do on site and in the New Milton area
The New Forest and surrounding area offers visitors a whole range of fun activities and family days out to enjoy. You can go horse riding and cycling in the forest or head a little further afield to one of the area's many attractions.
If travelling with the kids, a trip to Paultons Park Home of Peppa Pig World (25 minutes) is a must. Home to rollercoasters, shows, child friendly rides, animals and more, there is plenty to keep the whole gang busy!
A 20 minute drive will also take you to The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. A family friendly attraction home to over 250 vintage cars and fascinating exhibitions like World of Top Gear and the Special Operations Executive of WWII.
