Located in the beautiful Ullswater valley, in UNESCO Word Heritage Site - the Lake District National Park, Waterfoot Park is lovely park that welcomes guests with its charm and beauty. The park offers an ideal base for those looking to explore the picturesque northern Lake District and surrounding areas.
About Waterfoot Park
Waterfoot Park is nestled in the grounds of a Georgian mansion overlooking England's most beautiful lake, Ullswater. It's only a short walk from the Ullswater 'Steamers' Pier and the charming village of Pooley Bridge where you will find a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. The site is surrounded by ancient woodland in the northern region of the national park, a prime habitat for the elusive red squirrel. Waterfoot Park is a perfect location for those that enjoy walking, cycling, water sports, outdoor activities and heritage holidays. You'll stay on the famous Ullswater Way, a 20-mile waymarked footpath that circumnavigates the lake. The route can be walked in sections using Ullswater 'Steamers' or local buses. The park is an idyllic location for touring offering space for motorhomes, caravans and awnings and are all hardstanding. For glampers who'd rather skip the bother of pitching, the quirky S-Pods and glamping pods are available on a short or weekly basis, and some are dog friendly. Alternatively, Waterfoot Park has four self-catering holiday cottages onsite offering lovely views over the grounds and Ullswater, and one in Pooley Bridge. In addition, there are private holiday homes for sale.

Things to do on site and in the Penrith area
Ullswater is often compared to the likes of Lake Lucerne and referred to as England's most beautiful lake. The lake runs a serpentine course in three reaches with Helvellyn crowning the plateau at the head of the lake - at 3117ft it is England's third highest mountain.
Ullswater 'Steamers' combines a cruise with some of the most famous and spectacular walks in the Lake District. There are miles of footpaths linked by the 'Steamer' routes and many opportunities for exploring the area. The 'Steamer' Pier at Pooley Bridge is just ten minutes away on foot, taking you to the four piers around the lake connecting the Ullswater Way walking route.
For guests interested in heritage attractions, Dalemain Historic Mansion is close by and is one of the most impressive stately houses in the North West of England, while Lowther Castle is a must-visit for history fans.
You can walk direct from the park to National Trust Aira Force waterfall too. Plunging 65ft, Aira Force cascades over a dramatic gully and if you are lucky the sun's light forms a prismatic effect to create the famous Aira Rainbow.
Penrith is a market town approximately 6 miles to the north and offers all-weather facilities with an indoor swimming pool, a climbing wall, a golf course and excellent shopping, whether it's for local produce or high street names. Or, and only a little further and to the west, is the beautiful town of Keswick. Set on the shores of Derwentwater and famed for its spectacular setting, Keswick offers both a variety of walking opportunities, and a range of shops and restaurants around a pedestrianised market square.
