A note from the site themselves...

We have welcomed guests to the farm since back in the 1990's. I actually first met David (my husband) whilst holidaying on the farm with my family and many years later a holiday romance resulted in marriage.

It is amazing that I would end up living in the cottage that we used to holiday in! While David is busy working on the farm with our dogs Belle and Jess, I run my own business providing business advice and book-keeping support to other local farm businesses.

We have three children Jen, Beckie and Chris. Together, we love welcoming visitors to the farm and have made many friends over the years. We hope you become a regular soon, Siobhan

Camping Pod - Glamping PodsJul 2024

After reading only good reviews, I had booked at Howgills Hideway for 5 nights (family of 3 adults) in a standard clamping pod. We arrived at the site after driving a very narrow bendy road with few passing places. Siobhan, the owner, was friendly and helpful after asking for swimming spots. The BBQ hamper (meat & vegetarian) we ordered was very good. The surroundings are beautiful with lovely views. Unfortunately our standard pod. Wasn't very clean and full of cobwebs, I had to clean the kitchen drawers and shelves, and the BBQ grill before use and I swept the patio too. The kettle hadn't been descaled for a while, didn't use the toaster or microwave. Some dishes & cutlery were missing. It was very small, only two chairs inside and not enough space for your clothes, but we left some of our stuff in the car. I wouldn't call this a glamping pod. Though the double bed was comfortable and clean bedding was provided, the sofa bed (small mattress topper provided) was very hard and uncomfortable. We had a massive problem with flies inside as no fly screen on window or door. Very hot to sleep with window closed. We had to buy a fly screen to be able to sleep. A fan in the summer time would be nice, but a fly screen on window is a must. The kids we saw enjoyed there stay as lot's of toys & trampoline and big a lawn to play on. Maybe we were unlucky with our pod, but I wouldn't recommend it for more than two people for more than one night, but we still enjoyed our stay, because the weather was great and we sat outside after a day of walking in the evenings with nice views.

Camping Pod - Glamping PodsApr 2024

This was a nice relaxing night away. Clean pod in lovely surroundings. The farmer and his wife were lovely also. Great value and the little shop on site is very useful. Remember you only have cooker rings and a microwave when you pack food. If you forget, there are shops a short distance away.

Camping Pod - Glamping PodsMar 2024

Had the most amazing time at Howgills Hideaway! Highly recommended and we have recommended to friends and family! Lovely and clean and the pods are very cosy and very warm! Perfect little stay away from the hustle and bustle. The pods were very well equipped and there was nothing that we needed as it was all there. The honesty shop was perfect, with the use of games and DVDS along with books that you could borrow! There was nothing that the owners hadn't thought of that you might need on a little weekend away glamping. The outdoor toilets and showers were clean and smelt really fresh! Just an overall lovely stay with the most beautiful views! Already booked to come in back in July!
