Caerau Campsite is located in Holyhead, just a five minute drive from the Anglesey coastal walk and sandy beaches. The site is situated in a large peaceful field, surrounded by glorious Welsh countryside and wildlife. Tents and campervans are both welcome on the site's non electric grass pitches.

About Caerau Campsite

The site is a family friendly location offering camping in a large field surrounded by wildlife. Experience the beautiful coastline and beaches that Anglesey has to offer, in an idyllic setting. The site offers non electric grass pitches that welcome tents and campervans. All of the pitches measure 8m x 8m and have WiFi coverage. The site has 30 pitches with a maximum of eight people per pitch. Only a 20 minute walk from the site, you can get to Hen Borth or Cemlyn Beach (40 minutes) for a swim. A 15 minute drive and you will be at Cemaes Bay, a bustling little colourful village with local pubs and shops. It is a great location for kids as well, with its sandy beaches and welcoming atmosphere. The site is also surrounded by wildlife including rabbits, hares, hedgehogs, buzzards and more! Campfires and BBQs are allowed. Dogs are welcome, at a maximum of two per pitch and must be kept on the lead and supervised at all times.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities include a modern toilet block and a washing up area with hot/cold and drinking water. There is a small shop onsite where you can buy hot food, coffees, snacks and drinks.

The nearest shop is McColl's or Llanfechell Village Store, both ten minutes away. The closest pub is The Church Bay Inn ten minutes away.

The site asks that quiet time 11pm onwards.

Dogs are welcome to be kept under control and on leads around other campers.

Amplified music is not allow onsite.

Please use the recycling bins provided.

You are not allowed to fish or swim in the wildlife lake.


The site is ideally located just a short walk from the beach and coastal paths. Find Hen Borth beach just a 20 minute walk away, or Cemlyn Bay a 10 drive away. For rock pooling try Traeth Lligwy (30 minutes) which also has a café and a sandy beach.

For a unique, authentic Welsh experience book yourself on one of the site's personalised guided tours. Enjoy some of Snowdonia's and North Wales' best routes with local guide Jan as he takes you through the twist and turns of the countryside.

If you're wanting to take in some of the history of the area head to Holyhead Maritime Museum (30 minutes) and step back in time to learn about shipwrecks and pirates. Or, go to Goleudy Ynys Lawd (35 minutes), a lighthouse built in 1809 with an engine rooms tour and exhibition.

For thrill seekers, head to Porth Daniel (40 minutes) and try out one of the RibRide trips and enjoy a wild ride with the chance of seal spotting. Or, for a more calm experience, try one of the Starida Puffin Island Cruises and Sea Fishing Trips (50 minutes) and see an abundance of wildlife, you may even see a bottlenose dolphin!
