About Burrowhead Holiday Village

This quiet family friendly site is situated in Cutcloy at an old army camp on the headland. From your pitch, there are views of the Isle of Man, Solway Firth and mountain peaks from the Lake District. A great base for exploring the area with lots of great coastal walks to enjoy with all the family. There are 90 gently sloping grass pitches to choose from, suitable for tents, tourers and motorhomes. All of the pitches are nice and spacious, enjoying stunning views out to sea. There are also static caravans onsite to hire. There are 12 month seasonal touring Pitches available! A secluded site with great onsite facilities so there is lots to keep you entertained! The site is also a great base for exploring Newton Stuart with a coastal walk that goes to St Ninians cave! And another that leads to the Isle of Whithorn as well as some local beaches where you can sea fish. The whole family is welcome so bring your four legged friends along!

Facilities and amenities

There is a communal facility block with toilets and showers. The site does have its own water supply but it needs to be boiled before it can be drunk safely. Onsite there is also a launderette and WiFi.

There is a well-stocked onsite shop for picking up the essentials as well as a cafe that offers indoor seating or a takeaway option. A licensed bar holds evening entertainment for all the family to enjoy with quiet time at 11:30pm.

For little ones there is a games room, soft play area, playground and crazy golf. For the older ones there is a pitch and putt, putting green and snooker table. There is an outdoor swimming pool for the summer months, as well as an indoor jacuzzi, sauna as well as a toddler splash pool!

Guests may fish from the Burrowheads rocks or the nearby beaches.

The closest pub to the site is the Steam Pakcet Inn on the Isle of Whithorn Harbour a ten minute drive or a 50 minute walk. The closest supermarket is Costcutter a 15 minute drive from the site.

There is lots to do onsite for all the family. There is a games room with board games, snooker and soft play for all to enjoy. Or, practice some golf with the crazy golf, the pitch and putt, or even the putting green.

For those wanting to completely unwind, there is a sauna room and heated jacuzzi. There is also an outdoor swimming pool for guests to enjoy during the summer months, as well as a splash pool and fun slide for the little ones to enjoy. For all year round fun there is an outdoor play park to entertain children.

If you want to venture outside the park there are some great coastal walks from the site. A 10 minute drive from site is St Ninians cave and its rocky beach for a fun day out skimming stones and splashing in the sea. Or there is a coastal path straight from the site, although the track is quite close to the cliff edge so is not suitable for buggies.

Other nearby beaches include a 25 minute drive to Rigg bay or St Medans beach, so take a picnic and enjoy the caves and rock pools at low tide!

In the opposite direction, you can take a 50 minute walk, or 5 minute drive to the quaint seaside village of the Isle of Whithorn where you can enjoy local restaurants, a tearoom, or the local art gallery. Here you can also visit the roundhouse to learn more about St Ninian and his pilgrimage.

Have a day out visiting the Mull of Galloway and its lighthouse, the most southerly point of Scotland! An hour and 15 minute drive from the site.

The local beaches and the rocks at Burrowhead allow sea fishing, so bring your rod!
