Stayed in our campervan for just 1 night. Really well kept grounds and beautifully clean toilets and showers. Very peaceful and quiet, and woke up to stunning birdsong. It was perfect for our needs and we'd stay again if in the area.
Delightful stay

Lovely hosts with beautifully kept grounds and facilities. Although close to a road this was not really noticeable once in the grounds. I shall certainly rebook when in the area.
Unheated toilets and showers!

We were booked for 3 nights, but unfortunately, due to an unexpected issue with our campervan had to head home after just one. However, had the issue not arisen we would have chosen not to stay longer. The site is easy to find and the pitches are adequate and fairly level. Chalkboards have all of the information you might require. We also met the delightful Kitty, a friend of the owners who mans the site for them. We specifically chose this site because of the availability of toilets and showers, which were very clean. However, they were unheated and therefore, in our opinion unusable during the autumn/winter/spring months. When reporting this to Kitty, she said she'd speak to the owner and call us the next day. She was as good as her word and did so. At £35 per night, with only 10 AMP electricity and unheated facilities, in our experience, this is not good value for money. The straw which broke the camel's back for us however, was the positioning of the notice board at the entrance which totally blocks your vision to the right when leaving, such that you have to edge forward onto a very fast road, which is extremely dangerous. It would be fine in a car, but certainly not in a campervan.
Nice, small, very quiet site

Was a trip over New Year so wasn't surprised to see the shop was closed. The showers and toilets were clean. Pitch was only the size of the van so we had to stand in mud to get in or out, it rained loads so was very muddy. All the roadways seemed extra narrow to be honest. Didn't see any staff the whole time we were there. We also asked for a pitch near the toilets and showers due to my partner's mobility and we couldn't have been put further away. Don't know if was unavoidable or they just didn't read the message but it is the reason for the 1 star on customer service. If you get a request and you can't accommodate it, please let the customer know it can't be done.

Spotless site with excellent showers and loos. Driveway could do with attention as it had a few potholes but nothing major. Traffic noise at times was loud (tractors down the lane nearby and boy racers on road at times).

It's a great base for exploring the local countryside and seaside towns. Very quiet and lovely clean facilities. Didn't see any of the owners, only the daughter who was manning the coffee shop/shed. Your name is on a board with which pitch you have allocated to you and you just drive up to it and connect to the facilities.

A lovely friendly campsite with good space between each pitch. The site has an exceptionally clean toilet/shower block. All caravan sites should be held to this standard.

I used this site as a stopover for one night. All facilities were very clean and well cared for. Gutted I missed the gelato though- save that for next time!
Wish we had stayed longer!

We booked this lovely site last minute after wanting to stay in Somerset an extra night in a different camp. We arrived and our name was on the board, so we knew which plot we were staying in. We had a lovely pitch with trees next to us and not looked over, with plenty of space to put up an awning if we wanted to. The family & their maintenance man welcomed us when we arrived and of course we had to sample some of their delicious Gelato Ice Cream! We also ordered one of their handmade wood fired pizzas each which were served to us at our camping table! They were amazing - best pizza I've ever had! Toilets/showers were immaculately clean and looked brand new. Felt very safe there too. I just wished we had stayed longer as it is a lovely place to stay and we will definitely be back if you will have us! Thanks for everything.

Stayed for three nights with our troupe of teens and the dog... What a fantastic little site! Spotlessly clean, toilets and showers were immaculate and the gelato was out of this world! Such fabulous, friendly staff... Made us so welcome. Hoping to visit again in a few weeks!!

We made a last minute decision to break up our journey from Barnstaple to Cheltenham so found and booked a night at Thornhills on Campsites.co.uk. What a great little site. Super-handy for the M5, just far enough off the beaten track for a peaceful night's rest before resuming our journey. Access was easy for our small 6m motorhome but there were several larger vans on the site too. We arrived quite late but a chalkboard showed us our name and pitch number. The modern loos and showers were spotless and there was a handy coin-operated washer/dryer room. You can tell that the owners have given the site's layout a lot of thought as it is beautifully landscaped with generous, nicely planted, serviced pitches that lend an air of privacy. It being a Monday we missed out on the pizza and gelato but the little cabin where they're served looked really nice. Although there is no formal play area there were two or three families on-site and the kids were quite happy playing on the large, safe grassy pitches. On a stroll around the site we found the Shepherd's Hut complete with a hot tub and gorgeous views over the corn fields. Our own pitch was the closest of the 12 to the road and it was quite busy, but being only a rural lane it wasn't too bad - and as we were in late/out early it actually suited us very well. If we visited again and for longer we would probably want a pitch further from the road and facing the fields. But on this occasion, and for such a brief pitstop, it was ideal. Thanks Thornhills 🙂

We stayed at Thornhills for the first time. The site is beautiful with fantastically Clean facilities. The owners Karyn and Phill couldn't do more to help. All pitches have mains water, drain and EHU so you can relay on your holiday. The favourite part was the wood fired pizza on a Saturday night and the BEST Italian gelato I have ever tasted outside of Italy. We also tried their coffee which was equally as good. We will be returning, thank you
Would stay here again

Very clean site, especially the toilets and showers which are of a high standard. Very friendly staff. There is pizza available on Saturday evening from their own wood burning stove which was very tasty. However, there's not much to do on site i.e. children's play area or dog walking area. Also there are no bins to dispose of dog poo! As the site is situated on a busy main road, it's difficult to walk off site and if you do, there is nothing nearby to visit. That being said, this is an ideal site to just sit and relax in and let the world go by. We would stay here again.

Thank you Martyn for your review. We pride ourselves in being a very clean and quiet site for people to come and relax in a beautiful surrounding on the Somerset Levels. Plus having the benefit of fully serviced pitches that are not often forund in boutlque sites. 5 minutes in the car there are fantastic places to visit to keep you entertained throughout your holiday. We are also very proud of our pizza at the weekend and fantastic Italian Gelato and freshly ground coffee. We are glad you enjoyed the pizza. If you would like a quite holiday to relax and recharge your batteries then we are definately worth a visit.

Stayed for one night on way down to Lands End. Nice little campsite. Highly recommend The George Inn as a walkable, dog friendly pub with some amazing looking food. Beware, the cross field route to get there is best done with muddy boots.
