Just a 20-30 minute drive to Dartmoor National Park and the north coast, including Bude, Bideford and Westward Ho!

About Reforge Retreat

This is a space that is quirky and unique - not your usual run of the mill site. The setting is a tranquil medieval farmstead, where a settlement has been for over a thousand years. This place is steeped in history for you to explore, along with charming wildlife for you to meet. The site caters to couples and families and offers a variety of settings here including, lakes, woods, a stream, a ravine and luscious meadows. Campervans, tents and caravans are welcome on cosy grass pitches if you have your own facilities. For glampers, there's the choice of stylish and vibrant bell tents, which include everything you might need. The orchard bell tent sleeps up to four and has its own fire pit and picnic bench, while the meadow can be booked with either one or two bell tents sleeping up to a maximum of 8 people, with firepits and picnic benches. The lakeside bell tent is for a maximum of four but children must be supervised at all times. For something off-grid, the Brook Hut is perfect for couples. Tucked away in the woodlands this cosy glamping cabin is next to a stream and is equipped with a double bed, a compostable toilet and battery for lamps. There is an outside area with a table and chairs and a fire pit and BBQ, perfect for al fresco dining in the evenings. There is no running water at the cabin so fill up at the main site. Tucked away by the lake the Hideaway is perfect for couples with a double bed and outside seating area and BBQ. For ultimate luxury Xanadu is an artisan handcrafted glamping pod sitting above a lake, with a private bridge entrance. This unique pod has an open-plan living area, bedroom with a king size bed, kitchen , and a hexagonal bathroom. There is also an outside decking area.

The site is open all year round and the Xanadu is available from April to December.


Facilities and amenities

Each bell tent has its own toilet and shower facilities. Site facilities include a medieval bar with full alcohol licence with 12 different types of gin, lager, ales, wine and spirits. Crisps and old pub style bar snacks are available as well as soft drinks. There is a Mediterranean-style courtyard for socialising, board games and darts. Campfires are allowed and there are BBQs for hire.

There is a great pub that does food, The Black River Inn, just a ten minute walk from the site.

Our site is a magical mystery tour of beautiful areas! The lakes where you can wild swim, the meadows where you can feel nestled in the treeline spotting owls and bats at night under the stars and the prehistoric elephant rhubarb plants.

Not to mention the sumptuous gardens with a communal fire pit areas and hammocks to sleep in as well as the Reforge Inn where you can have a drink whilst playing cards or eating wood fired pizza. For little explorers, venture into the woods and discover the hidden chest deep in the heart of the woodland...

FAQ

Check-in is available from 3pm until 9pm for camping and touring and from 3pm until 7pm for glamping. Departure is due before 11am on your last day.

Open fires in fire pits and raised BBQs are permitted except in hot and dry weather, due to surrounding woodlands.

The Devon countryside on your doorstep is a hub of woodland strolls and rambles, with Roadford Lake just over ten miles away, and a nearby cycling route roughly half a mile from the site. Take the little ones to War Horse Valley Country Park (8.8 miles) and meet the alpacas before a tractor ride around the park. Other local attractions include: *RHS Garden Rosemoor (11 miles) *Gnome Reserve and Garden (14.4 miles)

Camping guests are welcome to bring an awning, gazebo or pup tent free of charge.


There's plenty of fun to be had at the site, which hosts games nights occasionally and gets everyone involved. There is the occasional Shakespeare play and outdoor theatre. There's a recreation room with ping pong and table football.

Woodland walks and nature rambles here are beautiful, as you're surrounded by the Devon countryside.

There is a tempting cycle path half a mile away from the site which will help you explore the county.

Bude and the North Cornish Coast is 20 minutes away.

Dartmoor and the train from Okehampton is also half an hour away.
