About Ceridwen Centre

Located on an organic farm extending to about 40 acres, The Ceridwen Centre is made up of grazing pasture, young woodlands, orchards and a market garden. It's a haven for escaping and unwinding, and rural without being remote (though bringing a torch is recommended!). There is a camping field, suitable for tents and small campervans. A variety of glamping accommodation includes five bentwood yurts, as well as an eco pod, upcycled static caravan 'Hop Shack', and a converted double decker bus (Gold rating from Visit Wales). The yurts are furnished with traditional rugs, cushions and blankets, with proper beds and a wood-burning stove for warmth. Three of the yurts are set in an old orchard garden and will sleep a family of four, another is set overlooking the valley, while the 18.5ft yurt is big enough for four adults. Each is quite separate, with an outdoor decking area for al fresco dining. All the yurts come with their very own compost loo. A large BBQ is shared between guests in a communal outdoor area behind the summer house. The Hop Shack is an upcycled static caravan, clad in timber and recycled corrugated tin. Well insulated, there's also a toasty wood burner in the sitting room. The Hop Shack sleeps four adults in two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite shower room. A further shower room and toilet is located near the second bedroom, along with a kitchen with oven, hob, fridge and all the usual cookware. There's a dining room table with space for four and a spacious veranda with views across the organic vegetable gardens and secluded valley. The wooden (and super insulated) eco pod was hand built on the farm with recycled materials, and sleeps two adults. It has basic cooking facilities, with a two-ring gas camping stove, sink and small fridge. Outside you'll find your own barbecue and to the back of the pod is a compost loo. The converted 1964 Leyland Titan double decker bus is rather special and took just over a year to complete. Positioned in a quiet spot overlooking the valley, the bus has original livery on the outside and accommodates up to six people in two double bedrooms. There are toilets upstairs, and kitchen and dining with a sitting area downstairs. The kitchen has all mod cons, including a good sized fridge. Updated outside showers can be found at the rear of the bus. Outside is a decking area with furniture to allow you to enjoy the views.

Camping is available from 22nd March to October 4th. Glamping is available all year round.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities include the eco-loo shepherd's hut with hot showers and compost loo, as well as two conventional hot shower rooms within the Old Dairy, 150 metres away. There is also cold water washing facilities, an outdoor seating area with table and chairs, and a summer house with six-ring gas hob and cooker, pots, pans, plates, cutlery, glasses and a small shared fridge.

There's also a wood-fired hot tub for seven. A shop on site sells an array of local produce, including alcohol. A cafe on site uses locally sourced ingredients and some from the site's organic gardens to offer pizza nights and burger options, with Sunday lunches and other options available at various times during the year.

The nearest pub is the John y Gwas, a mile away in Drefach-Felindre. There are plenty of good small independent shops in Newcastle Emlyn and Llandysul.

A note from the site themselves...

At the heart of everything we do is family. We are very much dedicated to looking after our landscape with our children and being rooted in the land and the community.

To help us remain eco friendly, we repurpose, reuse, and recycle as much as we can. We aim to use second-hand and local materials and also always local labour on all our projects to support the businesses around us.

Since we have been here, we have also been able to plant over 4500 trees and don't expect to stop there. We have installed biomass heating, solar PV power and solar thermal hot water with the aim to minimise impact and look after our planet for as long as we can.

Myself and the team hope to have the chance to welcome you here soon, Roger

FAQ

Check-in is between 3pm-9pm and your departure is due by 10am on your final day.

Yes, up to two dogs are welcome per pitch provided they are kept on a lead at all times whilst onsite and are not a breed/crossbreed listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act. Two dogs are permitted in the Hop Shack and one dog is permitted in all other glamping accommodation.

Yep, the cafe here offers a variety of tasty dishes including pizza nights, a variety of burgers, Sunday roasts and more including open mic nights and workshops. The John y Gwas pub is located just a mile from the site too.

Sorry, awnings, pup tents and gazebos are not permitted.

Often called the quieter Cornwall, West Wales has it all. The site is just 12 miles from the coast at Cardigan Bay, but offers an equal number of inland treasures in the Teifi Valley too.

The 75 mile Afon Teifi is the longest river which flows entirely within Wales. There's plenty of outdoor pursuits to enjoy, or you can take it easy and enjoy the views with a relaxing stroll by the water. The river is also renowned as being one of the UK's best sea trout and salmon fishing spots.

The Teifi Valley Railway at Henllan is a narrow-gauge tourist railway, and only a short drive to the popular West Wales Museum of Childhood.

There are several superb beaches, from sandy coves to long sands. Llangrannog and Tresaith both have ice-cream shops and cafes, and are just 14 miles away, while Cefn Sidan (28 miles) to the south is Wales' longest beach.

Dolphin watching trips from Newquay harbour are popular and give you the chance to see bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic grey seals and harbour porpoises.

Families will also enjoy the animals and rides at Folly Farm, or Oakwood for a dose of g-force. The Dyfed Shire Horse Farm and Cardigan Island Farm Park are smaller attractions and a bit closer to the site if you prefer.

Cyclists will love West Wales Trails, based on the farm, where you can hire a bike to explore the area or let an in-house guide take you to the places you won't usually find.

Other local attractions include:

  • National Wool Museum
  • National Botanic Garden of Wales
  • Welsh Wildlife Centre and Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve
  • Cilgerran Castle
