About Windmill Retreats
An ideal location for scenic walking and cycling routes, this peaceful glamping site is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, within easy reach of Harrogate. Guests can meet the friendly onsite animals including goats, alpacas and Highland cattle, with Valley Gardens Harrogate and Thruscross Reservoir within a ten minute drive too. There are seven shepherd's huts and four geodomes onsite, each sleeping up to two. Inside you will find a king size bed with a Silent Night mattress and cosy bedding, plus blackout blinds to ensure a good night's rest. A fully equipped kitchenette also contains a microwave, two ring gas hob, butler's sink and a small fridge for all of your cooking needs. You will also have your own modern ensuite which includes a flushing toilet, shower, hand basin, a heated towel rail and both robes and slippers for that hotel feel. Outside is your own private deck area with a fire pit/BBQ, along with firelights and BBQ coal included. An optional hot tub is available with your unit too, perfect for nights under the stars! All of the units include a welcome hamper stocked with all of the essentials including condiments, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, orange juice and some extra treats! Some of the units are pet friendly too, with up to two dogs permitted per unit.
Windmill Retreats is open all year round in 2024 and 2025.
Each glamping unit has its own ensuite bathroom and private kitchenette, along with the option to hire your own private hot tub. BBQ, breakfast, luxury celebration and sweet tray packs are available for an extra cost too. The site is also home to Highland cows, Pygmy goats, and alpacas which guests can meet. Alpaca walks are available for an extra cost.
The Outside inn Harrogate coffee shop is a ten minute walk away. Crimple Valley Fresh Darley Village Shop and the Nelson Inn are within a five minute drive too.

Harrogate is only ten minutes away and full of delicious eateries, shops and attractions to keep you busy. Visit the Valley Gardens Harrogate or attend the popular Great Yorkshire Show.
Knaresborough Castle and Courthouse Museum is a 20 minute drive away, perfect for those wanting to learn about some local history. Mother Shipton's Cave is also within 20 minutes for learning about local legends or simply enjoying a scenic walk.
York is a 50 minute drive away too. The scenic city is home to charming cobbled streets, along with a variety of things to do and see including the National Railway Museum York, York Castle Museum and York Minster.
