We stayed right at the very end of the season, the last week in fact and you'd never be able to tell! The showers and toilets were so clean and there were plenty of sinks for both teeth brushing and washing dishes. The kettle was a saviour as we ran out of gas and needed our morning coffee! Staff were so helpful and polite, giving us all the info we needed for a day trip into Edinburgh that was just a 40 min bus ride away. I must say though, the walk to the stop is more than 10 minutes as it says on the info leaflet but that's honestly my only negative about the place. We could just choose where to pitch our tent and there was more than enough space. I lived the canopy over the picnic benches I the communal area, perfect for large families/groups of friends. If I had children, I'd be bringing them here to take advantage of the games like connect 4 and swing ball! I've already recommended this campsite to my friends and family and we will definitely be back!
Very close to Edinburgh

Campsite conveniently located close to Edinburgh and amazing places to enjoy the nature. The campsite is well organized and facilities are very good. The members of the staff were helpful but the reception opening times are very short and check in times very narrow. We used the ready tent option which was very convenient. Unfortunately, one air mattress leaked air and I finished one night sleeping on the ground. The price is in the high range considering that this is camping and not really glamping.
Awesome two night break

Had an awesome time, would come back in a heartbeat. Happy, welcoming staff that were more than happy to help and give information. Facilities was more than what we had expected and always kept clean. The games box is a nice touch for families and children interacting together. The fenced off BBQ area with fire pit is a great idea. Loved the surrounding areas and the little local market that comes every 3rd Saturday of every month, value for money is spot on. Only thing I could suggest would be wall plug extension for charging gadgets.

Lovely campsite in the stunning Dalkeith Country Park. Well connected by train and bus to Edinburgh and has all the facilities required. We loved the family vibe, sunsets over the camp at night and value for money. I very much recommend.
Nice small convenient site in the great surroundings.

Nice little site, well located for Edinburgh visit, but the area is great in its own right with much to explore in the country park. Loved the picnic tables under the canopy, barbecue area, and the games for kids available. Also the wheelbarrows to get your stuff to and from the car park! We stayed in the pre-pitched tent which worked really well for us. It is a great idea to provide this facility.

Really nice campsite within a beautiful park. No vehicles in the campsite made it ideal for young children. It is a simple and clean site with really good, helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Nice site, with lovely old-growth woodland surrounding. Good, clean facilities - warm showers, toilets, wash-up and drinking water. Wheelbarrows available for short walk between carpark and site. Only criticism would be that car park is grass, so could get muddy in prolonged wet weather (was pretty wet when I visited though and I didn't have any issues). Not bad spot for getting in/out of Edinburgh - free park and ride 10mins drive away, city centre 30mins drive. Go Ape, Fort Douglas, Restoration Yard tourist attractions immediately adjacent, if that's your thing.
