A further 15 minutes will bring you into Porthcawl town, with its numerous shops and eateries, or in a slightly different direction you will be in Rest Bay - the sunsets are amazing over the soft sand and surf.
There are often guest caterers at the park, check the site's Facebook page to see when new events are posted.
There are so many activities to choose from- Porthcawl offers surfing, kitesurfing, paddle boarding and boogie boarding along its many beaches. For the younger members of your family, there are rock pools galore and stretches of soft sand.
For the more adventurous there is rock climbing, gorge walking, canoeing, mountain bike trails and sand sledging at Merthyr Mawr so you'll never be bored!
The Welsh Coastal Path runs along the headlands if you prefer a quiet walk, or just riding bikes with the children.
Locally you are in golf heaven with the Royal Porthcawl on your doorstop, host of The Senior Open. The Pyle and Kenfig and The Grove Golf Club are all close by. The Southerndown and St Mary Hill courses are also very convenient.
To see more of Wales, the site is situated between Cardiff, the Welsh capital, and Swansea, with its strong maritime connections.
